Custom Sound system install

Everybody seems to be doing it so why not me. After reading a bit on here, here's what I ended up with...

Kenwood DDX-7015 Head Unit
Kenwood 5.1 Digital Dolby Digital Processor
Boston Z6 Fronts
Boston Pro 60 Rears
SWI-X Steering wheel controller
JBL GTO326 3.5" Center
JBL GTO755.6 6Ch
12" Pioneer TS-SW124D Sub

Still getting all the pics but here are a few. The object was to keep it clean and stock somewhat... :)

Very nice install, did you do that yourself?

What did you use for the trim around the DDX7015?

where the HELL did you get that amp holder???? I WANT ONE!!!! WILL PAY!!!!

also, where did u ground the swix???? i have one, i need a ground

All of that looks custom made... i am trying to sell my custom woofer box, but being in hawaii is hard.. i need to build a sub enclouse like you have.. Did you build it? any specs? thanks...

I had the concept of what I wanted but being short on time and space to work as I sold my place, I had a shop do it for me. Its amazing how precise you have to be when you want something done.. The first box was a disaster. I went back and worked with the guys to actually build this. The rest of the install including the doors, head unit etc I did.

1. The custom mold around the head unit isn't totally done yet. Once it is, I'll post it.

2. The amp holder was custom made with the box. I'm actually selling both as I'm changing the setup a little. My wife is getting this ride so she wants the floor even. If you're interested, email me at
I grounded the SWI-X just below the right side of the dash center console. There's a metal frame that has a bolt on it already.

3. The box was custom made as I mentioned before. Every box is different depending on the sub type and requirements. This perticular sub was a very shallow mounting unit so just had to make sure there was enough air volume. Sorry, no real blue prints. My next project I will be more through.


I wanted a system but wanted the usability of the truck. This was a good trial but i want different equipment so time to change...

yeah, i know what you mean about trial and error... i spent three weeks building this box, but now, that i have a boat and the wife wants a baby... it gotta go.. but i'd like to build one with a 10" in the cornor.. just for proper sound fill..

back to the drawing board... anyone in hawaii, i'll sell it in a heartbeat! haha

If you're looking for a 10", why not go with the JL Stealth box? It sounds pretty good and its hidden on the side. It will provide the fill you need. I wanted a 12" so went with this.

Now i'm going for the new Alpine monster SWX-1242D sub. See how that goes. :)

Post more pics after you redo it too, I want to see how you redo that back area with everything even.

That is very important, functional... and clean... THE only problem with the four runner is , people obviously notice that you put time and effort into creating a sweet ride, they just know that something has got to be in the truck... ya know... if everyone would respect other people's stuff... we wouldn't have to worry, but it's a damm shame you do...
 
don't you forget to post pics of that head unit trim!!!

What material are you using, do you know? I'm in process of doing the same thing right now.
 
Looks like I'm not the only one really interested in seeing the trim ring for the radio....

Nice install, looks very clean. Is the floor arched now and not flat?

The trim seems to be the hottest topic on here:D
The floor is flat up to the amp box. The new box will have it raised and with the seats down, it will have an arch of about an inch. with the seats up, the back will be even.
