Dallas (Bridgeport ORV park) 2/9 planning thread

UPDATE we are now going on 2/10. MEET AT 8:00 AM!!

I figured I'd make a new thread for this instead of bumping an old one (http://www.toyota-4runner.org/3rd-gen-t4rs/132227-attn-dallas-area-4runners-2.html).

A few of us are planning to meet up at the Bridgeport park (NW of Fort Worth) on February 10.


For now, I don't have any details, but I figure we should plan to meet at the park entrance about when they open (8:00 am)

It's $25 to get into the park, plus $16 for a Texas OHV sticker if you don't have one.


I will admit that I've never been to the park, so I wouldn't be the best trail leader (though I'm not an off road novice). However, it looks like at least half of the trails are single or double diamond, so a stock 4x4 3rd gen with a reasonably competent driver should be able to have a good time. I'm pretty sure that this is the park that opened with support from Nissan (they did an Xterra media event there), so I understand it is pretty stock truck friendly.

If you are planning to come, make sure you bring a tow strap with you (and be sure there is somewhere good to attach it to your 4Runner).

** If you don't want to drive off road, I'm sure there will be plenty of open seats.

I don't really want to drive offroad (no rock crawling), but I'd be interested in exploring the park, so put me down as a maybe, pending my prior commitment on the 9th...

is it a requirement for everybody to have a functioning CB radio in their vehicle?

Probably wouldn't hurt, although I'll admit that I don't currently have one. It's just an OHV park, not a trail on BLM land or something, so I don't think we'll really need them.

I will put you down as a maybe. Would love to have you though - definitely at least an open seat or two in my 4Runner. I'm also not looking to do any rock crawling, but these are pretty capable trucks stock.

Anyone else?

they're doing the Bridgeport run in lieu of their regular monthly meeting @ Pappas BBQ on Northwest Hwy due to that coinciding with Valentine's Day

This has to be horrible timing for me. As soon as I commit to this, I get another appointment come up for the exact same day that I have to attend (first time home buyer seminar). I'm out for this one unless this can be moved to Sunday?...if not i'll have to catch the next run.

both my wife and I compete in various action shooting sports throughout the year, often doing two or three matches a month - this one happens to be the season finale for our Texas Precision Rifle Club (TPRC) - but we also regularly compete in multigun/3gun, 2-gun, American speed plates, USPSA/IPSC, IDPA, GSSF, and various other club matches, etc.; do you do any of those?

It looks like Sunday may be a better option for most, but I don't won't to be the reason the date is changed. 2002, you sparked the flame for the run so it's your call. Does anyone know if nissanh can swing Sunday as well?

Definitely! Anyone, any vehicle. I figured it'd be fun to get some 3rd gens together, but the bigger the group the better. As long as all of our vehicles are somewhat similar in their capabilities, it'll be a good time. I wouldn't want to have a bunch of guys with Wranglers and FJs on 37s with us since they'd be bored (nothing against their vehicles)

yes, you really need to buy them, and they should sell them at the park; if not, then some of the local DFW offroad shops have them, so you could get a sticker ahead of time before the run...

OK, cool. It says on the park's site that they don't sell them. I'll go pick up one this week.

No kidding man.....I use to compete in AZ while I lived out there, nothing sanctioned but a local range would have reactive steel shoots on Tuesday night. 4 courses, always different. Havent gotten back into it here, like to talk more about it at Bridgeport if you can make it.

No Ill do both, get a little refresher of the park before the club run. Been a couple months since I have been that way.
