Database Error...Sorry

I like this site. It is open, tolerates disagreements and edits when needed. it also allows super exchange or information, ideas and simply and wholly incredible modifications. It does pics well, has a great search feature. That said, I am happy to throw down a nominal fee for membership. and I STRONGLY encourage you old guys in control at this point in time to disclose costs and fees etc in the spirit of openness. you probably wont have to do it again, but at this juncture, since the question has been raised, best to open the books when you get set up.

Rather than doing a yearly fee, how about a pay per post fee? Let's say we charge a 1/2 of a penny for each post? For a person that posts 5 posts a day , that's only like $9.13 a year. Of course if you post more, then you'll have to pay more but it'll cut down on the posts that don't add anything constructive to the forum as a whole. Anyways, that's my 1/2 cent into the fray...

Oh and it would be nice to get a little something for being a mod :biggrin2:

Ha...ha....ha.... very funny. I only post a couple a day now though, I don't have the spare time to kill that I used to when I was on break.

I like the idea -- requiring a form of payment to register will stop the spammers. And for those who post but don't contribute to the substance of the thread, then their payments will offset the cost of hosting the drivel... I mean, their comments.

i like the idea of being charged say a dollar to register and then maybe a 10$ DONATION. the dollar to register will kill all the spammers and the 10 dollar donation from say 10 percent of the population say 1600 will MORE than cover the costs of this board for MANY YEARS to come

i know that i would be willing to make a donation even though i use some of the other boards more as this is mostly a 4th gen site and i dont mod the 07 yet
 
I surely hope this is an april fools joke, but honestly i've seen multiple forums go south doing this same thing... So i'm going to assume this is a real option being considered by the owner.

I guess i'll just keep my fingers crossed and wait until we have more info.
 
A site like this takes time and money that a lot of you don't understand. The cost of having someone help you when something doesn't work, such as the database issues, is NOT cheap.

That said, this is a worthy forum and I hope it continues. I wouldn't mind owning a forum like this. it'd be fun, but the last thing I think it is, is profitable.

The 4/1 joke was good and is over but some real good points were brought up.

What is the reason behind the database errors? Is there a reason to pursue another server and maybe strike a deal with Mirlen?

Is there any serious consideration being given to update the vBull version?

Also, just how much money are Thai & The Boys at the top making off the ad traffic? (I just had to ask.)
