I was wondering how you cut the sheet of plywood for the cargo area. Did you make a template or something similar and then transfer it to the plywood? Would you mind giving a quick run down of that process? I'm looking at doing something similar. Thanks!

I used the Ultimate Petliner as a template.

Placed it over the plywood and traced around it with a pencil. I cut it a little smaller to allow for clearance for the carpet and some wiggle room. After cutting the wood, I chamfered the edge that meets the door sill by routing the top edge with a 45 degree bit. Rounded out all the top edges with a belt sander. The carpet is attached using 3M contact cement and stapled on the bottom.

Using longer bolts, I anchored the plywood to the deck (directly over the factory carpet) at the 4 factory tie-down points. I ended up removing the D ring tie downs from 3 of the points except for the rear driver's location and replaced them with flat washers. I also put spacers (3/8"-1/2" IIRC) between the plywood and the body at the front location to level out the board.

The ARB slide tray is secured to the plywood with 5/16-18 bolts and 5/16-18 T-Nuts on the underside.

The ARB fridge is one of my favorite accessories.

Dawg, thanks for the explanation. I'm looking to do something similar for when I go fishing on the beach. I probably won't need the fridge, but I like the idea of the drawer for recovery gear. The way you have it installed, could you remove it if need be pretty easily?

Its just a matter of removing the 4 bolts and lifting the board out.

The battery and tray I got from Odyssey. The bracket that the tray sits on I had to fabricate myself. The battery provides 1200 CA and 550 CCA and powers all my accessories like fridge, Ham Radio, light bar. The IBS dual battery system isolates the two batteries when the engine is off and allows them to both charge at the same time when the engine is running. They can be linked together if I need more current.

It's an Aura grill from Jaos. Got if off ebay a few years back. They made them for both 2003-2005 and 2006-2009 but I don't think they're available anymore. The grill is slightly different between those to subsets of the 4th Gen. Obviously you have a nice rig, thats why you won 4runner of the month, but it took me a 2nd time going through your build thread and getting some different angles to finally realize the other vehicle in your garage. . . . Is that a GTS model?? or JUST a Dodge Viper. Great looking garage of vehicles you have either way.

Onto my question. Where did you find the OEM FJ Cruiser aux light switch? Ebay or something similar? What was the price like? Did you also need to buy the accompanying light harness to get it all properly wired? Then after you had your materials, what was the installation like? It seems like getting the center console removed and wires run is quite the task!! I think some high output LEDs are my next mod and I just love how cleanly you have integrated the light switch so I figured I'd pick your brain. Thanks in advance, really appreciate it!

ps....my other car is also a snake! 2003 SVT Cobra 10th Anniversary Edition. I bet with your exhaust set up on your GTS that thing absolutely screams! Love it.

I used the FJ light switch PN: PT297-35070-AS and wire harness PN: PT297-35070-SH. You can search the part numbers on line for the best price or just go here: Factory Fog Light Switch Kit SK1 SWITCHKIT

I used this wiring diagram courtesy of the FJ site. Be sure to use a relay as this switch isn't designed to handle much current.

Awesome rig! I really like the pet liner and think it is on my list now. We cart our Rottweiler in our 4R several times a week and keep a crate ratchet strapped down in the back using the factory tie downs. The liner would help keep the mess down and the tie down bars would make for a better setup. I have the shelf in the cargo area that stays down always, so removing the shelf and cutting a piece of 3/4" board and putting it down with the tie down bars is just the ticket!
