Deckplate Mod vs Cool Air Intake. Opinions, Pros, Cons?

So I'm debating whether to do a cool air intake or the deck plate mod. What are the pros and cons of each? Which is better? Opinions? Suggestions?

The cons on the cool air intake would be mucho dinero. The pros would be that you wasted mucho dinero for nothing -

I wouldn't call it better. The gains will be minimal, and the sound is annoying IMO.

Put your money into a set of sliders. You're going to want them when we hit Mineral Basin. :)

I have about 900 bucks ready to go into my truck. Sliders won't be an issue. ;) I'm getting the savage sliders.

And it looks like I need better tires to do that? Isn't the whole trail wet?
LIke a river wet? haha

Just do the elbow removal mod, it is free and takes 30 minutes. Same power as the deckplate without having to worry about water crossings

Might as well do the deckplate mod since it's cheaper. Either one will give you the same benefits - more noise, no more power (though the deckplate mod will likely rob some power on hot days).

An improved intake isn't going to help at all unless you have an improved exhaust system as well. Even then it is negligible. If you do decide to do it anyway I recommend the deck plate mod since you can put the plate back in at anytime and your airbox will be back to stick performance.

I am planning on getting a whole new exhaust. redoing the whole thing and upgrading it a shit ton. idk when though... After my lift probably.

But if it's almost useless without an exhaust, i'll wait to do it. I'm just doing a bunch of things right off the bat. I'm doing all my fluids, getting the external cooler, etc. rear dif breather plug. All that jazz.

Even then, you won't notice much difference - it's never going to be a race car (it has the aerodynamics of a brick). A supercharger will help, but it'll probably still get beat by a girl in a stock Corolla (unless you're racing off-road). You're better off putting money and work into things that make it more capable and reliable off-road than trying to make it go faster.
