As I stated I just replaced my timing belt and water pump on my 4.7. The timing belt does drive the water pump and the water pump is behind the timing belt. The water pump does not have to be removed to replace just the timing belt. The pulley that holds on the fan is not on the water pump it is just a idler pulley. In his second picture behind the silicone sealer you cas see the metal looks new there. That is the water pump right next to the cast iron block.
I have never replaced a water pump in my life, even at my age, but is that not the water pump in picture number 3, the part that is kind of slender and going sideways and attached to the block? Just wanting to know for my own edification. When I had the Toyota dealership replace my timing belt, and they recommended doing the water pump as well, I asked him if they had to take it off anyway to do the timing belt, and he said no, but that it was recommended while they had all the belts off and easily accessible. I agree the logic makes sense, but by the same logic, would you replace your brakes everytime you have your tires rotated or replaced since you have the tires off already? Not knocking any suggestions or recommendations, but I guess I look at the water pump and thermostat as something you replace when they go out, not when you have easy access to them. I am probably old school in some of my thinking and may regret it some day when my runner overheats and/or starts making some strange noises, ...., but considering it is a Toyota, I am not as concerned about that as I would be with some other makes.
