Diffinitive cell phone mount solution thread?

I like to use my Qi charging, can't have metal plate in the back for Qi to work. GoPro mount let me move the screen little to the right, so I can position where I want it.

I have a magnet on the back of my phone and am still able to Qi charge. If you place the magnet as high up on the phone as you can, Qi charging should still work......depending on the size of the magnet and phone, I suppose.

I have an iPhone XR (so 6.1") and am using a large magnet from Scosche MagicMount. Works great!

I know you posted this a bit ago, but what mount and adaptor are you using?? I've been eyeing the quadlock system for a bit and your set up loos solid.

Its QuadLock Case Adhesive Mount with a bolt through it and into the dash. Still running it. Still super secure.

One thing that has been driving my crazy is there is nowhere to stash my phone when driving.

I am not a huge fan of the vent mounts or windshield suction mounts. Just wondering what you use and what works well.

I like the looks of that Steelie mount. A little ball and magnet. But the darn phone is so big. Working on getting a smaller phone (iPhone XS) but I don’t want to spend the $1000 .

I see why people like the ram mount. Personally I am not a fan. I hate the fact that I can’t insert or remove my phone with one hand.

Here’s a photo of where I mounted mine. I do like the location because it doesn’t interfere with my cup holders. And yes I can still shift into 4WD.

That being said, I’m waiting to find a better solution.

How sturdy is that mount location? Do you see a lot of shake in the tablet/phone on rough roads?

My phone sits perfect standing up in the 4wd shift boot behind the shifter. I drove 410 miles home from the dealer like that without issue.

To tell the truth, the magnet on the backside is very reliable and convenient in use especially while driving. Frankly speaking, I found it accidentally in the supermarket when I bought absolutely other goods at all and I took it because of the convenient price. Unfortunately, when my wife saw it, she immediately took it away from me and I left nothing. She is a newbie driving and safe driving is very important. But finally, I ordered for my phone a new flip cover and a Reinforce iPad case for my iPad so with this coverings it is impossible to use magnets. That's why I didn't get upset.

I did end up putting in a Ram X-Grip phone mount attached to the side of the radio during winter. I thought I posted a pic, but apparently I forgot. Just so people know, the diamond plate made for the phone mount does fit in this location. When I put mine in, I didn't see any feedback on whether or not it fits. It's a tight fit, but I made it work. I would recommend the shortest arm possible if you're going to use this location. I have a 3" one, which came in a kit, and I sometimes knock the rubber tips on the mount with my hand on the steering wheel (but I also have small hands, so this would be bothersome for people with normal hands).

How sturdy is this mount in that location?

Very sturdy. I think having two screw locations for the diamond plate, although it is a little trickier to put in, distributes the weight better than just the single-screw ball option. I ended up using rubber o-rings, washers, and nylon-insert locking hex nuts to secure it. Hasn't budged! More importantly, it hasn't cracked either.

I have always used a ProClip mount in all my vehicles. (proclipusa.com). They are sturdy, no magnets, cutting or drilling, and can be removed when you sell your vehicle with no damage to the dash. They come in two parts: part one is custom fit to your vehicle, part two is custom fit to your cell phone.

I really like this idea, especially because it's a non-permanent solution, but I use that forward cup holder way too much (and I realize that's my problem lol).

You could even paint that black to have it blend in more, if needed.
