Phone holder solution without disrupting wireless charging capability

I'm looking for a good solution to mount my phone on my 3rd gen. I originally had a mount stuck on my windshield, but the heat melted the suction cup and left this nasty goo on my windshield. Anyone know of another way where I won't need to make any modifications to my phone since adding extra plates or covers interferes with wireless charging...

I just finished installing my new PanaVise inDash/RAM mounts combo. Love it. I sure you could put a wireless charging head on the RAM ball mount.

I use Google Maps a lot - and want my phone up in my line of sight.

This is another suction cup design (and if left in the direct/hot sun will come detached from the window) but it's one of the best I've used.

Just a FYI, slightly OT: Properly formulated suction cups, like those produced by Garmin or RAM mounts don't melt in the hot sun.

That's pretty much what I did. Wood block screwed to where the clock goes and a piece of black abs over it. I was going to use a wireless charging mount but they dont work with my case.

I went through several setups before ending up with an Anker wireless charger/phone holder (Amazon.com: Anker Wireless Charger, PowerWave 7.5 Car Charger with Air Vent Phone Holder, 7.5W for iPhone 11, 11 Pro, 11 Pro Max, 10W for Galaxy S10 S9 S8, Note 10 Note 9 (Quick Charge Car Charger Included): Home Audio & Theater $50) and a proclip center dash mount (Center Dash Mount | ProClip USA $30). The picture on the proclip website shows it covering the left vent, but I positioned mine to the right of the clock which covered the right vent for me but the passenger was still able to use it and I can still see the clock. I tried using the panavise side mount as pictured in jerbrun0515 posted but found it had a little too much vertical bounce to it for me. It was distracting for me when I had google maps up. The anker wireless charger is ball mounted so you can use it with any 17mm size ball if you want to use a RAM mount or something similar.

The proclip mount looks promising. The instructions mention peeling off the cover of the adhesive. Does this use adhesive to stay on or is it just more like a clamp? I want to avoid sticking anything in case I want to change/remove it later on...

It's to prevent it from sliding left or right on the top edge of the trim piece. I left the cover on the tape while I tried out a few positions to see where I liked it best. You could probably leave the tape cover on indefinitely and it would be fine. I forgot to mention that I had to buy a 17mm ball from tackform (AMPS Mount | Metal | 17mm Ball - Tackform) to mount the anker phone charger on. Proclip has wireless chargers similar to the anker wireless charger. If I were to do it all over again I would get the proclip mount and a wireless phone charger holder from proclip as well. If you want I can take a picture of my setup.

I replaced my lower grab handle screw with a RAM ball mount and put my phone there.

I just picked up the Aukey Wireless Car Charger from amazon. Only thing I didn't like about it is that it attaches to the air vent but it attaches very securely and automatically closes when I put my phone in it and opens just by tapping the side.

This was my solution. Ram makes a mount that let's you wireless charge. It's a piece of 3/4 plywood shaped to fit, then construction adhesive into the hole. Then the two hole mount ram ball is epoxied and screwed in place.

Do you know what the power is coming from the clock circuit? Haven't spent time to research it but if it was decent I wonder if fast charging could even work

I didn't use that power. What I did was I ran a fused hot wire into my charging ports so that they would be constant on instead of keyed, I use a small inverter to power a quick charger set up. So I just run my power up from there. My clock wires are still connected behind. Mine would randomly turn on while driving down the road, but never stayed on very long.

I just purchased this cd magnet mount. I hope it works well for me. I just got it in the mail and getting ready to use it.

Clock shares the 15 amp dome fuse with a lot of other things for it's main power source. I wouldn't recommend tying into it for power for a fast charging power supply due to fast charging pulling 7-10 amps depending on the fast charger and phone.
