Wow, that's quite the story! Glad everything worked out. Guess a new battery is in your future, maybe even dual batteries?
Damn!! Glad you made it out and eventually got the truck out. That's quite a stuck story, the photo of the 4runner buried in the snow is crazy.
Sounds like one heck of a trip.
Did you figure out what ever happened with your truck? What caused it to die out like that?
Wow, that's an incredible story! One for the books or magazines or something! Glad you _all_ made it out safe, I was worried just reading what you had obviously survived.
Damn Jeremiah, got yourself into a quite the pickle huh... Remind me not to go snow wheeling with youHow pissed off was your wife? haha
I'm guessing the metal grinding was you broke a front CV?
Glad everyone made it out alright. Sucks that dude broke an output shaft on his atlas, ouch..
Yeah, crazy story! As with others, I'm also curious what actually happened (if you've figured it out yet). Glad you made it out!
And then...???
You need a dog. Dogs will go along for that kind of tomfoolery, and they run a nice 102.5 on the body temp so they double as emergency heaters.
Seriously though, you're crazy.
So all scariness aside, and acknowledging that wheeling alone isn't going to happen again...
Why did the 4Runner die?
What was going on regarding its inability to stay running?...
Was it simply the winch pulling too much power?
How can we learn from this situation to prevent a vehicle from dieing in such conditions?
Craziness. I am not a fan of optimas. I have had too many issues with them.
You would do so well if you had a film crew to follow you around
I have good luck with duralast agm batteries from autozone.

Sounds like quite the nightmare, glad everyone is out safe! I think I'm going to start carrying a sleeping bag in my runner when I'm out wheeling!

I'm at the point of deciding to save up for re-gearing + a rear locker at least.
Would you recommend adding the front locker if I'm an often trail wheeler...yet not really a huge rock crawler?

Are there upgrades for that or you don't mind having that as the weak link ?
