That has to be the biggest barrel of Brake Clean I have ever seen in a home shop environment. Five gallons I take it.

I think Singtoe was experimenting with using a Camry gas tank for extra fuel storage though I don't know if Rob has been on this board in some time.

I hope I never have to replace my PS pump given the price.

The stock fuel capacity really sucks on this generation 4Runner, so I cut the stock crossmember out in preparation of building an aux fuel tank. This is one of those projects that I’ve always wanted to do, but always gets put on the back burner. It will most likely be a winter project, but since it was in the garage and I was waiting on parts I figured what the hell.






I moved the back up lights that were under the floor off to the sides for a wider pattern of light.



I had a set of amber Dually’s on the 4Runner for low visibility winter driving, they were great but since I no longer daily drive my 4Runner they hardly ever get used. My wife wanted a set for her 4Runner, so I pulled them off and bought a pair of the Hyper spots to replace them.

Cool! I was thinking about making an aux tank and a tool storage in that same area.

I think you are aware of this now, but Optimas are basically junk at this point in time, according to all accounts. That AGM looks sick, good choice!

I know I can get more than 10 gallons, I just figured if I could get at least that much I would be happy. I would like it to set flush with the frame, and I want to leave more than enough room for the suspension, exhaust and floor. I chopped the back of my frame off when I built my rear bumper, and I want enough room to get up into the suspension for work. I comfortably have 35" wide, 6" tall and only 12" front to back (my bumper design puts my 2" receiver right in the middle of where the tank is, and I need to leave room for a random trailer ball mount to fit), that gives me 10.90 gallons. I can probably squeeze a little more out of it if I modify the shape of the tank, but I'm not going to kill myself to get another gallon or two.

I just don't use it as much as I would like to. I built it before I had my daughter and back when my wife liked to go camping, for the most part it's just me using it and it's kind of overkill at times. There's not much interest in it right now, so I'll probably just hold on to it for the time being.

For two years now I've been mapping and planning a trip that would take my friends and I through a large chunk of Colorado, while touching minimal pavement. It was originally planned for last year, but I found out my rear axle was bent and had to cancel the trip. We decided to run it this year, and in the meantime I was able to get rid of a little more pavement. When it was all said and done we ran about 250 miles of dirt, with about 20 miles of rural back road pavement thrown in to connect sections. The only real section of maintained pavement was a quick drive through Glenwood Springs. It was an amazing trip!

X2- [MENTION=28808]psraff[/MENTION] you live in alaska. I was stationed at Ft. Richardson for 4 years in the 90's and did some great trails up there. Just got back from a Unit reunion a couple of weeks ago in Anchorage, I am seriously looking at moving back up there in a few years.
A week on the Kenai got the itch back in my blood.

edit: meant to ask what GPS your got, is that a Garmin GPSMap 62 or 64? I recently picked up a GPSMap 64st that I am still deciding if i like it or not. It is a bit bigger than my Etrex Vista HCX (old but dependable) and my Etrex 20. I like the big screen of my Nuvi 2797 but having a handheld is nice as a back up (AA's are nice)..yep I have Gadgetitis bad:music:

Awesome pics Dirtco!...... I've been subscribed to your thread for sometime and really love what you've done to your 4R! I pop in from time to time to see updates! It was sad to see that you are considering letting her go.... I totally understand with changing priorities and family (expanding), I know when my Wife and I started a family money was tight and hard decisions had to be made! Now that my kids are all out of school, the challenge is finding money to help with College! I'd do a lot more with my 4r if I just had the money but my Wife and kids find uses for it! There are lots of things I wish I'd hung on to, but alas, the decision seemed right at the time... i'm really impressed that after BFAD started a family he/they were able to incorporate outdoor 4Runner pursuits with the family! He has somehow spawned an interest in his daughter for his truck!! How awesome is that!
