Thanks! If my old Toyota's taught me one thing, that would be "Do it right the first time" (I don't know how many times I rebuilt the old green 4Runner). But, no matter how much research you do there will still be issue's and things that didn't work out the way you planned.
There's a couple major things I need to change, and several other things on my "List", this thread will be around for a while.

The MTR's are awesome on the trail, but I've been very disappointed in the MTR's when it comes to driving them on the street (on this truck). They don't balance well, or ride smooth, and they took a bunch of weight to balance; they pretty much remind me of a bias ply tire. I could rant for a while, but I'll take the high the road and say they just didn't work for me.
So I bought the BFG KM2's and I love them! They are so much smoother on the road; you can hear them and feel the lugs, but they are still the smoothest mud terrain tire I have ever owned. They also took a lot less weight to balance, and they are round, imagine that!
It will be interesting to see how they work on the trail and in the deep snow, but I've heard good things and I'm not really worried!

The best combination of low & high I've ever seen on a 3rd gen.
RE the tires, you're either a perfectionist or a man with very refined taste. Probably a little of both. I hope they work out well for you in the long term.
Looks like the snow is melting off up there. I was reading about a fire north of Deckers... hopefully fire season isn't too bad for you guys.

The new tires look great...and I suppose the best part is that they work the way you need them to. I personally think the KM2's are still the classiest looking aggressive tire on our 4Runner's. Which is why I'm gunning for some, whenever I can afford to lift and tire this thing.

I saw this a couple of years ago, and wanted to build my tire carrier like that.... I opted for the easy way out (fabrication wise), and went with my swing down.
Still wish I would have built mine differently.......

Looking great as always Dirtco. I am sure you will like the KM2's, I love them! (albeit in a MUCH smaller size!! haha) The only complaint I have with them is that they absolutely suck in icey conditions, but that was predictable looking at the lack of siping on them and such large tread blocks. In the mud, snow, and little bit of rock my truck has seen, they have been awesome! No flats yet and pretty awesome wear.

Thanks for the link!I just don't feel the extra work to get into the back of the 4Runner on a every day basis is worth having it there all the time, especially since I have beadlocks. I hated getting in the back of the old 4Runner! If I'm more than one or two hours away from home I will most likely have the trailer which has two spares and a donut.

I'm going to say all of the above, with a little OCD thrown in for good measure!
The snow is melting super fast, and it's dry. It's really scary, we need moisture bad. There was a small wildfire only a couple miles from Keystone yesterday, that's unheard of this time of year!

You're welcome to take some of our rain.
New rubber definitely passes the looks test. Will be curious what you think down the road. I hear they're the best all-around MT.

Your 100% right; I installed the tires, stood back, and thought to myself "THAT is the tire that matches my truck!"
I'll let you know when I start planning my trip down to NM, but it might be a while. I saw in another thread you said something about Moab; it's been years since I've been there and I've been dying to go back. If you make a trip over there let me know, I don't know if I'll be able to make it but I'll really try!

Ice and snow packed roads seem to be the one huge downfall of this tire. I thought about siping them but I didn't feel confident enough in any of my local tire shops, I've seen a couple jobs they have done and there is no way they will get anywhere near my tires. The other issue is that the mag-cloride they put on the roads is starting to kill the finish on my wheels, it's not too bad yet but it's been a very mild winter, a couple hard winters wouldn't be pretty. And, water collects in the wheel and freezes, throwing off the balance of the tires. Because of that I'm going to get a set of winter tires and wheels this fall, I'm guessing a nice set of all-terrains. Once the snow gets too deep for practical snow wheeling, and they shut all the gates, I'll take the KM2's off. They might see a few snow storms but not the middle of winter, super cold, icy roads that seem to be their downfall. I can always throw the KM2's back on a couple times for some deep snow wheeling, if the conditions are right.

There is a Tacomaworld MOAB meet. May 16-20. There is gonna be like a hundred trucks there. Quite a few 4runners too.
