I headed to the next trailhead, and I actually mistook the place for a campground. It was the height of hunting season, and I had run into small camps everywhere, but this was just ridiculous. It was a small trailhead with trucks and trailers everywhere, I couldn’t even spot the trail or a way to get through the parking area. So I just kept driving and headed to the next trail on the list, Crescent Lake.
This trail was the reason for the trip, I was looking for a possible alternative camping site for a future trip and this looked promising. I started at the Colorado river and worked my way up several dirt roads to the beginning of the Flat Tops. This is where the trail started, and continued for another twelve miles passing several lakes and ending at the border of the Flat Top wilderness.

Yes we do! Are you interested in some snow wheeling?
There is also Chinaman's trail in BV, it doesn't get much snow and you can run it almost year round (depending on the weather).

Congratulations on your daughters wedding! I would love to meet up if our schedules match up, where is the wedding?

We continued up towards French Creek, passing a bull moose along the way. At the creek I decided to give my old right line a shot, I never thought a full bodied IFS rig would be able to take that line (well, at least without a struggle) but there was nobody else on the trail and it seemed like a good time to give it a try. I was pleasantly surprised when I drove it first try. I’ll post up video when I get the footage from Aaron.
From there we continued up to whats left of the city.
You think I can make it up there this time of the year bud?

Not going to happen; there is way too much snow up there for such a technical trail.

I love snow wheeling.. One of the reasons I was excited to move out here. Just need to plan a weekend and GO!

I took the 4Runner out for the first snow wheeling trip of the season!
I went to my normal spot, there wasn't much snow at the bottom but I figured that would change as I gained elevation.
I found a couple good drifts to play around in, and after playing around for a little bit I headed back down.
The day was still early so I decided to check out another trail in the area. This trail is extremely popular with snowmobiles, which is why I normally don't run it. But, it was early season and a Friday, so I figured I would go check it out. There was no tracks, and no trucks or trailers, so I gave it a go!
Lets just say i now understand why that area is so popular! There was a good foot of fresh snow (on top of what was there before) and it only got deeper as I worked my way up the trail.
I made it several miles up the trail before the snow got too deep to make decent progress, so I turned around and headed home.
