Disable VSC, TRAC, and ABS without damaging factory wiring

I wished I'd had read this post from the beginning long ago. emelianenkov nailed most of what I'm trying to accomplish - ridding the granny controls when offroad.

I'm now running my 09 Lmtd v6 and it has the traction control off button. I think this is momentary contact and breaks the circuit but only works if you keep consistent rpm. Then comes back on. Case in point. Used it trying to get through mud bog and get unstuck, but when rpm exceeded some limit I was bogged down by granny braking and loss of real throttle.

I think the original mod is perfect for earlier rigs. And I want to do it on my rig but think I may have to do two mods to get what's needed. Reading all the posts on this makes it more confusing since most of the mods are done on older trucks.

I want to be able to rid granny with a switch - not have granny pop back on at any RPM or threshold when I'm in the middle of "Oh Shxx" - and yet when doing the daily driver routine, not have the Christmas tree dashboard.

I just did the TPMS mod and changed the gas cap and cleaned the MAFS to get the ck engine and balance of lights to go bye-bye.

I'm thinking I should just do this and see what happens but are their any considerations for the later models? 2008 or 2009 with the TC Off? I think the concept of that switch is good but if it is defeated by a preset factory RPM trigger it could mess me up. What would you do differently with the later models to have the choice to exterminate granny modes on demand?

Today, after looking at this thread, I decided to tackle the abs, vsc, and a-trac disable mod utilizing the concept laid out here (which I think is essentially the AndyMod).

However, I did not refrain from "damaging" the factory wiring. Instead, I unplugged the connector mentioned above, cut the white/black wire about three inches back, and wired each end to a switch on my console.

Note: this is a 2005 SR5 4x4 v6 model.

Attached are some pics:

Fifth one (showing the wires spliced into the break in the white/black wire):

Then I just ran those two wires into the firewall to a two prong spst switch and mounted it next to the center differential button.

I'm happy to report that the mod worked, and the following lights illuminate: VSC OFF, ABS, VSC TRAC, ATRAC, and the parking brake light (since I believe it is the parking brake fluid sensor that was tapped into, not the pressure sensor). However, you must turn the switch off and then shut the car down, and restart it in order to remove this condition and go back to normal. If you have any questions, feel free to ask!

Bad news. I've ran this mod for years with no issues. I just went to uninstall it and unintentional sorted out the white wire with the black stripe. The casing is slightly melted so I'm going to have to replace it. I've traced it down to where it goes through the firewall but there are a ton of wires inside the firewall that look alike. Does anyone know where this wire leads to??

Hey guys, just bought an 05 V8 4Runner with 285km on it and the previous buyer told me about this mod. What does it exactly do, and should it be turned off (switch off) when doing Daily Driving? but off when off roading or fun applications? Kind of confused coming from a guy who has a built 3rd gen 4runner. I dont exactly know what is the problem with having VSC TRAC being off. I had my ABS taken off in my 3rd gen, and actually improved the driving better in the winter.

For anyone that can help, I'm sure this is answered somewhere in the million pages of this thread. Essentially all you do is connect a switch on the ground side (white wire) of this connector? And when the switch is open it disables the 3 systems? You can either do this by cutting the wire or using the spayed connectors to connect the plug correct and not harm any wiring correct?

Can someone please specify the correct wire to cut and on which connector? There are 2 connectors on the master cylinder:
- 2 wires (Green and White w/ Black stripe)
- 3 wires (Red, Black, and White)

When I completely remove the 2 wire connector and start my car nothing happens. But if I plug that back in, and unplug the 3 wire connector, I see the ABS, VSC lights on my dash.

The first few pages mention cutting the White wire but then Post #41 says this doesn't work and he had to cut the Red wire on the 3-wire connector.

So do I cut the White wire on the 2-wire connector or the Red wire on the 3-wire connector?

Plug the connector back in after wiring the switch.

Also, I confirmed that it is the red wire on the 3 wires connector (Red, Black, and White) that you need to cut on my 2004 4Runner V8 Sport Edition.

Just upgraded from 3rd to 4th gen 4runner and was disappointed to be "nannied" in the snow. Is there anyone in the chicagoland area that would be willing to help me out with this mod? I don't have any electrical experience and would love to have a guide on this one.

Another question- If i want to disable the nanny mode for a short period of time, can i just unplug it under the hood and re-insert it after without any complications?

Can i lock the diff and power slide in the snow??

Yes you can just unplug it and re-plug it. Engine off when you do.
You can drive in any mode with this mod. Diff locked also.

I have had mine disabled for over a year. All is well.

It should turn or and off.
You flip the switch when the T4R is off/not running.


Did you use a toggle switch and not a momentary style?

Maybe you need to try a ZPC (zero point calibration) to clear the lights.
Look it up here...real easy to do yourself.

Negative. Locking the center eliminates the 60/40 split in power rear to front. That will create tension and binding on dry pavement and mess things up. Lock the center diff when you hit dirt, best advice.

You guys may want to try the little electronic circuit that Kliv came up with in this thread. It is a much cleaner way to disable the VSC/Trac, and works like the factory button in FJ, and other late model Toyotas.
