HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!! im about to kill myself over this. i hve the damn thing taken all apart. only LED's that work are the Mode/reset button and the ac control knob on the right. i have taken em out and put em back in. nothing, i take em out and put in old ones and they work like a charm, this is reallypissing me off. any advice would be appreciated

okay so i got all but the screen and the middle and left knob to light up and my screen is messed up!!! i so upset i dont know what i did... it shows very lightly the info and some is darker like the clock and its messed up for real. i dont know what to do? or what i did to mess this up. please someone help me out! i dont care about the led's anymore i just want the screen to work again. i love how when im in a CRISIS and need help no one is online!

I haven't attempted this led replacement yet, but I would double check that the plug behind the LCD display is good and secure and you could hear it click when you plugged it in..
Are you using the twist-in leds for the LCD display and HVAC knobs? If so, I again would double check to make sure they are twisted in properly and making contact.
Seems to me its something real easy like that. Otherwise I dunno.

well 2 knob twist ins arent working when i gave up last night. and i could not get the high powered twist in for the screen to work so i tried putting in my old non high powere and only one side will light up. ill try fixing those again and hope that i didnt have the main plug snapped in all the way. when driving down the road the screen is dim and gets darker then goes away then comes back and the clock isnt legible but the mpg and AC is when it lights up a little. thanks

it might be the LEDs that are out. its probably not the unit. get some AA batteries and test to see if the LEDs are burned out or not.

Did you ever find a solution on those HP super bright led's. I'm kinda having the same Problem with mine, only two of mine work in the bottom two buttons. When I plugged in my panel one of the one's behind the screen flashed on and then off. out of the 9 or so I ordered I can't believe that all of them would be bad and one two work. I've tried taking them out and putting them in a different way but nothing works.

Did you test the LEDs with a battery?

Ya Been trying that but I can't seem to even get the one's that do work,to work with a Battery. If i can't figure out something tonight then looks like I'll have to go buy me a multimeter.

I was able to get the LEDs to light up by taping two AA batteries together, holding one of the wires to one of the leads on the LED, and taking the other wire and briefly touching the other lead on the LED.

So, in order to change the guage colors as shown above, how many LED bulbs did you have to use?

i could never get HP screen lights to work... i put in my old non high powered blues and only one side works along with my broken screen! still gotta work on that. the other HP that i ordered were for the knobs and only 1 works which is the knob on the left. center and rigt i cant get to light up... im frusterated, but mainly pissed cause i effed my screen.

Well Some news I was able to get the led's tested using a 9 volt battery they all are working like a dream. One strange thing I didn't notice is that when I tested the one's in the ac panel, testing one of the panel lights lit up both of them,testing the mode,and the reset button lit up all three of the knobs. So I have to wonder if every like has to have exact polarity for the others to work.
Which if that's the case is gonna be crazy just to figure out and to get it to work.



Should clarify they are all working outside the truck like a dream.When I plug them into they truck they don't work.

depends on what you want to swap out. if it purely just the backlighting you'll need anywhere from 15 - 23 (sport vs limited) if you looking for more than that it can go up to 36+ based on what jerrysc99 swapped out. i always order 10-15% more than i need just in case i run into any issues.

yep mine dont work when i plug them in and im too lazy to fix em ha

It was definitely a challenge to solder the LEDs and resistors in the small bulb holder. I also had to drill out the two openings for the legs of the LEDs as they were larger than the stock bulbs that I replaced. If I had it to do again, I would opt to buy the new LEDs instead of making my own.

Do they make a LED for the cup holder? Everyone seems to have done the soldering and making there own. If anyone has been able to just buy a build let me know. Thanks

You can use a #74 it takes a little force to get it in, But it will work I got the 360 degree HP one From superbrightled's

okay-the back light behind where it says "range" on the center cluster is out. how do i replace it? also, my CD player doesn't read CDs anymore. are there any solutions?
