Do I / Can I have factory keyless entry???

I am actually in the process of doing the auto AC and diff locker conversion (down time while on leave). I have two wiring harness already. One from a 1997 and one from a 1999. I am just thinking before I button it up, that I may have the necessary harness wire - I would just need the appropriate modules.

In that case, put all the '99 stuff in there (including rear door stuff) and you'll be good to go.

I don't expect people to be ready to swap out that much stuff!

When you say, "put all the 99 stuff in there" I beg the details of "stuff". I have researched the other mods I am doing, but not this. What do you mean "rear door stuff"?

The rear door has the remote entry radio receiver and control box it in. It communicates to the front fuse box in the cabin via a multiplex communication bus, and both parts are integrated together to unlock the doors, roll the rear window, etc. from the remote. You'll want to get a '99 wiring diagram and check it out. There are a lot of differences there. But if you have a '99 parts truck with all the components, "all" you need to do is swap it all over. It is all mechanically compatible (bolts in the same place).

I have a '99 and put a '97 4WD transmission/etc. in my truck - I was surprised at how many differences there were under the dash. I had no reason to go 'backwards' to the RS3000 system though - it was just interesting to see how it was all dealer/port installed. I didn't dig into the back half of the truck to get more details than that.

Yup. The wiring from the dash harness to the engine harness is different, the wiring to the main fuse box is different, etc. You'd have to be willing to swap pretty much all the wiring, or have an odd hybrid at the connections between the interior wiring and the front part of the truck.

Door window switches are different, but I don't know if the wiring to/from them (door to body) is though.

I have a 1999 SR5 Highlander and I have the RS3200 ECU under my steering column. I've tried to push the little button on the side of the ECU but there is no button in the hole. I've tried the locking and unlocking 5 times deal and the truck won't even get into programming mode. Anyone have any ideas?

I just took a gander and .... Nah, I will just proceed with what I got. There are some striking differences - all the way down to the ECU connectors. Not worth it for me with limited time

No point in making a new thread. I got my truck used with one metal key. Is this the dealer installed keyless entry on my 97 Limited? So I can just purchase a replacement FOB and then recode it?

Not sure if that's the keyless entry buy call the dealership, give them your vin and they should be able to tell you if it came with it or not

As these were dealer or port add-ons in '97, they can't get that from the VIN. All were built without in '97.

That is where the keyless was on the early trucks... Along with a bunch of wires tapped under the dash. I believe it uses a different fob than the later ones, so make sure you get the right one! And hopefully it is programmable to the new fob.

My only personal experience was on my parts truck...

The instructions for the RS3000 dealer installed keyless entry seem to be on par with what I'm seeing. Additionally, when I press the green reset button, the Toyota Security light activates near the E-Break.

So I'm going to pull the trigger and get this:

Hi guys, im new here. First of all sorry for my nad english. I need your help. I have a 4runner SR5 2005 and I bought it a few months ago but It has a GENIUS alarm that obviously is not the factory one. The thing is that i want to know if The factory alarm is istill there but inactivated. I want to put off that genius alarm and come back to the factory alarm. I know that i will have to buy a new factory comtroler. But i want to know if the factory alarm hardware is still the o was removed. How can I do that? Please help. Thanks

My FOB from the dealer installed system looked nothing like the Toyota FOB from 99+ .

Yes. Here's the box which is under the drivers seat.

When you press the green button this occurs on the security light near the e-break

According the the link I posted before, I've got the dealer installed RS3000 and I just completed the "reset" procedures. All that I'm missing is the key fob.

Amazon has shipped it so I'll update accordingly.

Yeah that looks like a 3000 for sure . My light is mounted in the same spot but totally different . My FOB disintegrated and there was no brand name or FCC number on it which makes it a task to replace. I have yet to find my box uke:

I just want the door locks and windows to operate through the FOB again . Don't care about the alarm .

for some reason that FOB isn't compatible to a 98 4Runner, just 97 4Runners.

going to take a look at the box when I get home. hopefully the information is incorrect and it is compatible. Also, will this work with lowering the windows and unlocking the doors cause that would be awesome if it does or just unlocking the doors.
