Doc's ZRV(Pic Heavy)

No. The Heep is my sisters, and I will NEVER own one. That thing SUCKS. The tranny went a month after she had it, blew lines off it TWICE, and it doesn't start right, and is weak as hell.

Let me get another DD first........ I've heard some horror stories about DD's that were SASd. Don't want to have to go through that.....

Well, we all know I need bumpers. I've been sitting in my room all day, couldn't get the starter, so I came up with these designs. Keep in mind, these are done freehand, with nothing but a ruler and some tracing paper to use for the front of the Runner.

These are the pics I used to draw the bumper. I started fabbing one up a few months ago, but never got around to finishing it. Had too much other stuff to do.

Here's the front shot of the bumper. The Red lines are obviously lines on the truck that are supposed to be there, the black are the bumper. Ignore the short black line on the left.

I want the bumper to attach to the same place as the skid plate, while covering the front plates on the frame. I also wanted to follow the lines of the grille/headlights, hence the circular stinger.

Whatcha guys think?

Sure did. Who ever designed the placement of them needs to be shot. I'm pretty sure a blind monkey could do better.....

Very cool work man. First time I have seen leaf springs on a 4Runner.

Thanks man. It's the first for me too. :)

Did you mount some rear shocks yet?

Not yet. I still need to do the F-250 swap that I have planned. I'm planning on using the support for the tank straps and a shock mount as welll. As soon as I can get a tank, make it accept the toyota stuff, then I'll take her back to the ramp, flex her out, measure, and order.

Opinions please. :)

Hey guys. Haven't been working on the Runner in a while. Work and life have seem to have taken over, since my guys came back from the sandbox(wish I could do a 3 month deployment....)

Anyway, I got off work early today, so off I went to the hobby shop here on base and started taping and cutting. I want to know what you guys think so far. Feel free to tell me, just don't be a d!ck. Haven't taken my meds in a few days. LOL.

Keep in mind, this was done with nothing more than a tape measure, Exacto knife, Sharpie, and masking tape. The foam board is 3/16", and the supports I made aren't exactly strong enough to hold the weight of the top and front. The bumper does sag, but, as I said, the supports I made aren't really strong enough.

The whole reason I made it out of foam board is so I could get an idea of how it would look. there are some things that need to be adressed, and some things that I MIGHT change. Like, where and how am I going to get to the winch, once I do everything I want to.

The next few pics are just the top, sides, and front. I plan on putting a winch plate in the bumper, and also making the bumper go to the skid plate, unless I can figure out a different way to keep it looking like one piece. I'm also considering making the front removable, to make getting acess to the winch easier, should something happen and I need to pull it out.

As of right now, the bumper is 8" deep and 8" high. It was 10" deep, but I shortened it. Thinking about cutting another 2" off, making it 6" deep. What do you think? Will I still be able to fit a either 9 or 12k in there?

I need a hobby shop.

^^^ you are a hobby shop

Hey hey hey. Back on topic please. Hoping to get this built in the next couple weeks. Want ideas and opinions please. :)

Sing: the front shaft was perfect. Thank you. Sorry I didn't stop by Tuesday, I was running late. I'm not going home this weekend, but I'll stop by next weekend and give ya some $ for that shaft. Thanks again!

i doesn't looks bad, maybe a little to much "fat-lipish" but other than that its not bad. -i dont really care for the skinny side and how steep of an angle it makes coming back to the fender opening but thats just me. -props to you for being willing to take the time to do this good luck keep it up

I agree with the "Fat-Lip." Hence why I'm thinking about taking another 2" off of it now. That would bring it to 6" deep. Only thing I have a question about is the width of a winch. How wide are most 9 or 12k winches? That's only the real limiting factor here.

SOOOOOOOOOOO......

I know I told you guys that I would have a gas tank mocked up this weekend. Wwwwwwweeeeeeelllllllllllllllllll, that didn't happen. :/

I had a slight issue the last Friday; the wiring harness for all my ADD stuff got wrapped around my front shaft and got ripped off. Just my luck. Thankfully, the truck still drove, though not great. I have to shift from low to drive, other wise it feels like it's stuck in 3rd gear.

I found a new harness out of a '99 SR5 on Friday. Plugs into my computer, but doesn't have all the ADD crap. The guy that had it has got a really bad case of sciatica, so I had to go pull the harness yesterday. No big deal. Done it before.

Well, this guy has a bunch of Toyota's sitting up there, and what did my little eyes spy? A RACK!!! It was only a 1/2 rack, but that's no problem. Little bit of fabrication, and I turned it into a full rack. :D

I figure, for 40 bucks, it was well worth it.

Here it was when I got it. It was bolted together in the middle, so I knew it wouldn't be too hard to extend it into a full rack.

This is what it looks like now. Still got some fab work to do on it.

I know I've still got some stuff to do to it. I need to add a mount toward the front of the factory rails, add some crossmembers, and make it look pretty. It won't take but maybe 3 hours at the shop on base. Then, I'm going to sand it down, and repaint it.

Probably going to add light bar up front, and some tabs on the side and the back.
