Dometic Frig/cooler power

Just got the CFX 28, do you use the 12V or 110 power outlet in the back to power your frig

I have the cfx50 and ran a 12 gauge wire to a 12v plug in the back. From my research the 110 plug was not enough for the fridge and it also only stays on when the truck is running.
