Door panel Removal... where is the screw behind the door?

Ok, taking the door panel off should be really easy... Well, I cannot find a picture of the final screw that must be taken off to get the panel off. The ones hidden behind the trap doors are easy, but has anyone seen a picture of the one behind the door panel?

I could not get the panel off and did not see this elusive screw...

Just curious - why did Toyota put an extra screw in behind the panel?

ok... thanks.... I do wish SP8 would have put a picture of this on his photo log... this is the one thing missing... I will try again tomorrow. I was afraid of damaging the panel.

I was under the impression that there was another screw (after you pull all of the exterior screws behind the trap doors) that only became accessible once you pop the panel from the door... Is this correct?

In the front doors, there are 3 screws. The rest is held on with the plastic trim clips. 2 screws behind trap doors, 1 screw behind panel behind the door handle.

One other thing to make note of.

Remove the weather strip from the top of the panel before putting things back. Then when putting things back together, put the weather strip on the door first then mounting the panel is easy.

Grant - did you install a new set of speakers? If yes, what did you put in?

I am going to try to put some JL 6x9s in this week -- swapping out some Bostons that will be moved to our other car... The Bostons sound really good, so I am not sure I am wasting my time

Good tip Grant. I really struggled getting the rear door panels back on. I'll try that next time.....I still haven't fixed my child locks yet.

I put Focal PC690 in the front doors and Focal PC165 in the rear doors. They are powered with an Alpine head unit going through an AudioConcepts DQXS anda JL 900/5 amp (100watts/each door). The speakers required building custom mounts so they would clear the glass and I still have to install the subs but the sound difference is AMAZING already. Crystal clear, nice even reproduction and enough power to make it hurt.

Very nice... did you do the install on the amp? That might be over my head, but might be looking for a reputable install place in Denver....

On the doors, I did pull them and swap the speakers... First one took 30mins, the second 15 mins... You live and you learn... And yes, the JL's I put in will need some juice.

I did the work myself. The amp and DQXS are currently lashed to the back of the rear seats. After I build the rear floor storage box they will be hidden in there. Others have mounted amps under the front seats which would have been easier. Installing them isn't hard, just running wires.
