Driver side armrest uncomfortable

Love the new 4runner with the only exception being the drivers side armrest.

Even with the steering wheel pulled out all the way, I have to lean forward and to the left in order to drive with my left elbow on the armrest.

I've tried adjusting the seat many possible ways to no avail.

Anyone else have this problem? The center console works fine when using my right hand to drive.

Any ideas on how to remedy this?

Drive with the right hand. When driving with the left hold the stearing wheel from the bottom.

Weird. I have trouble with the center rest for my right arm. I use a "neck pillow" my wife bought for trips and it is perfect for my shorter arms.

My left arm rests is the top of the door where the window rolls into the door. The actual rest is too low for my use. I always drive with my left hand (drove alot of ambulances and fire trucks and talked on a mic with the right all of the time) and have no problem.

Well, I'm right handed and like to drive with my left to keep the right free.

The edge of the door is fine except when the window is closed.

The armrest is only off by a little. I wish I could find something to augment the standard armrest. It's so close to being perfect.

Old habit, I usually drive with the left on top of the wheel, so I don't use the armrest unless I switch to the right. I have always prefered holding the top of the wheel in case a quick steering response is needed in either direction. Not always comfortable, but it makes me 'feel' safer.

I usually don't use the driver side armrest. I either have my left hand on the top of the wheel or leaning on the top of the door holding the wheel. I usually leave my right hand on the center armrest or on the gear shifter.

I drive without my hands, so I have no advice....


Actually, I'm pretty tall (6' 2"), but have really short legs and arms for my height (inseam is 31")...I found that bringing the whole seat forward (maybe a little more than in other autos) but tilting the back a bit more, well...backwards, helped to keep my arms at armrest proximity while allowing me with good access to windshield, steeringwheel and armrests....
