Driver's Side Mirror Vibration

So my poor car got side swiped by someone. We just got the car back from Service King, and we noticed that the driver's side mirror is vibrating quite a bit while the passenger side is not. They had to replace the entire mirror assembly since the other car crunched it (it was broken at the bottom about where the hinge is). Is there something we can tighten so we can fix this ourselves? I saw some posts about people being able to tighten a few bolts to fix it, and some posts about the mirror just needs to be replaced...so I'm not sure.

If I gently pushed on the mirror part (not the assembly, just the mirror), the driver's side gives quite a bit more than the passenger side. The passenger side hardly moves at all. Would someone be able to check their car to see if that's the case?

As far as the repairs goes, SK actually did a phenomenal job repairing/painting it. It's just this mirror thing is driving me batty.

The mirror is not seated properly.

Okay so...I popped the mirror off of the driver's side, and it looks different than the OEM one that's on the passenger's side. I'm guessing that's why? On the passenger's side, when I try to force-move the mirror, it has a clicking sound. On the driver's side, it just moves smoothly. Ugh. Maybe I can get SK to get me the OEM one instead of this POS one that they put in.

Mirror Vibrating

Insurance repairs are supposed to meet your satisfaction. Take it back and if they cannot get it right take it to your insurance company. They represent you on repairs. Even if someother insurance company is paying the bill your company should take care of it and bill the other insurance company. That's why you pay the insurance company.

I have this problem with my new 4runner. I wasnt sure that it could be a real problem until my recent trip where I witnessed the mirror vibrating like crazy. Is this something that the Toyota dealer can take care off or do I have to open it up to see if both the sides match up. I am worried if the vehicle was altered before delivery.

Mine has this same issue since new. I've brought it up to the dealer and they said there is nothing to adjust/tighten. I wish they would try a new mirror!

That's bad. I went and checked out to see if at least I see the same setup(white plastic backing) on both mirrors and to my relief I do see them identical. But the dreaded vibration continues to live on even after trying to push the mirror from the center to seat it properly as per the instruction no#12 above. I guess I have to live with this.[emoji20] [emoji20]

I'm tempted to go to the Toyota dealership and see if other ones are like that too. I would ask them to replace the mirror if possible. Worth a shot, but not too hopeful.

Sounds like they gave you an "aftermarket" side-view mirror. From my past experience with those, the mirror piece will vibrate while driving.

After fixing many a loose mirror it really requires a good solid wack with the end of fist in the center of the glass to seat it properly.
If it is an AM part then your final estimate will state such on that line item look for words such as CAPA or quality Aftermarket or a short part number.

If you car has aftermarket parts used and is over 12k mi blame it on the insurance company and their repair policy not the bodyshop. In most cases good honest bodyshops prefer oem. AM fit like crap

Thanks for posting that Antman! I smacked my own drivers side mirror on a post in a parking garage. Very little damage and it went back together fine but noticed a bit of vibration compared to the passengers side. Will try to reassemble it and pay closer attention
