Driver's Side Power Seat Problem

Am I unlucky or what. Just had the front diff replaced and everything has been perfect. Now, the driver's side power seat is not working properly. All of the buttons work, however when using the reclining mode, only the left side of the seat reclines and it's like the right side is stuck. I do not want to force it do much because I'm sure the seat would be damaged. I checked to see if anything was jamming the hinge on the right side, however I cannot see it because it's covered. I also tried reclining and hitting the seat and it will not jar loose. Anyone have any thoughts or do I need to have the seat replaced now???

When I sold my car in advance and went to pick up the silver TE w/ KDSS I was buying the seat had the exact same problem~ they couldnt fix it that day so I ended up leaving with the mag grey LTD I now drive....

Found out a month later that they actually had to replace the whole seat...

Sorry to be the bearer

Guess I'll have to schedule another appointment - will probably take two more appointments like the last time ...

If they do replace the entire seat, I hope the seat matches the rest of the fabric.

I hate to revive an old thread, but my limited is now doing this as well. I'm going to the stealer (probably on Saturday) this week to have this looked at. Oh how I look forward to wasting my entire Saturday (/sarcasm) ... bah

Well, as it turns out my lumbar motor stopped working and, like the TE I went to buy, they had to replace the whole seat frame..... which was pretty painless. They ordered it and replaced it with no hassles less than a week later.

Just an update: I went to a different dealer (not my typical one) because they had a shuttle that could reach my office. They kept my vehicle all day, and at the end of the day, advised me that "i must have done something to it" because it looked as tho I had "reclined too roughly", and caused the gears to get off track and apparently a clip broke that keeps things in line. I'm 6'4, and weigh 210lbs. I'm a gym rat, and I'm not overweight at all. I purchased my truck with 3000 miles on it, it had been used as a demo at the dealer so I saved quite a bit on it. Needless to say, I had never tried to use the recline function, and I was pretty upset at having been accused of "breaking my own car". They fixed it "as a courtesy" but advised me that it wouldn't be covered again. I can't believe the audacity of the dealer, honestly, and it wasn't where I purchased my truck. Needless to say, I won't be returning to Toyota of Dallas, and I strongly advise anyone never to use that dealer. I will take my vehicle back to my normal dealer next time, and this "try a new dealer thing" will never be considered again.

At any rate, the truck is fixed and I'm done with that dealer.

Hmmm! It appears that I'm now having the same issue, but on the passenger seat. The right side goes down, but the left side doesn't. I wish I had known before we brought it for the 5k service on Wednesday, 'cuz now we have to bring it back. Ugh. Seems like a common issue.

Don't take it to Toyota of Dallas! They all but accused me of "breaking" my own seat!! Clearly this is some type of defect. They were able to fix mine in a few hours but then told me they wouldn't honor that again under warranty!! (I called Toyota and Toyota assured me it was covered for the warranty period)

Wow, was close to creating a thread about this issue until I saw this one. Yup I am having the same issue on my passenger seat. one side moves and the other side is stuck. The seat just twists when trying to recline. I've got an appointment with a dealer out here in so-cal on saturday and I dare them to blame me for the malfunction.

I would hammer on the right side with my fist for a bit. Then take it to the dealership.

wow....

there's a surprise...lol

I just had the button fly off the top of the seat that you compress to drop the rear seats down...I heard it launch, bounce around, but have yet been able to find it.....it just disappeared in that cavernous interior

reat seat back button

Rear seat button on my 4runner came off also and was found on the floor of the cargo area. Found it first and didn't know where it came from until I went to fold down the rear seat and realized it was missing. It screws on

Same thing happen to button on my 4runner. Found it in the cargo area and didn't know where it came from or if it was even a part from my car. I went to fold down the left rear seat a few days later and realized that was the seat button that I had found.Glad I didn't throw it away.It just screws on

Yah that sucks. I'll remember that. We've been going to Texas Toyota (Grapevine) for a few years now, and we have a service guy there who treats us right. Anyway, I brought it in on Saturday and they took a look at it - said that's the first instance of the issue that they've seen at the dealership. I told him about the trouble that you guys on here have had with the driver seat. He said that they needed to order the seat, take out the seat frame, and then install into my passenger seat. That way the leather will be the same as I have now. When I checked to make sure that it's covered under warranty, he said "Of course it is! Don't be silly." The part will take 2-3 weeks to arrive, so I'll keep you guys posted.

I notice you all have 2010's. Hopefully this is something that was fixed for the 2011's?

pretty sure they are using the same seats.this was an issue in the 4th gens as well but don't think it was wide spread enough for toyota to actually do research on it to see what was actually causing the problem. They are just replacing the seats and calling it a day.

Bump

Sorry to revive this thread but there has been no answer to this problem. I have a 2010 LE and this problem just started. The passenger seat does not recline on the left side of the seat. And of course I dont have the warranty anymore. Many people stated that they just returned the vehicle to the dealership and they replaced it bc it was under warranty. I think im going to have to take my seat apart and diagnose the problem and hopefully fix it. :spider:

I know this is an old thread, but we're you able to fix this? I have a 2010 SR5 and this problem started this morning on the driver's seat. Only the left side will recline. I am out of warranty and I am curious what your solution was.

Does anyone know if there is a bulletin on this or a recall?
