Interesting to see you have 285/70/17 duratracs "E" load range tires since Goodyear only claims to make load range "D" in the 285/70/17 DuraTrac.

My bad typo. Thanks for the correction. They are "D" range.

You read my mind. I am concerned on what problems spacers will bring figment wise. Seems like I always read that if there is any rubbing at all, the problem is increased with the addition of spacers. I may just ride it out until I have enough jack for either the Black Rhino Imperials like yours Qjake or the Method MR301 like KC. That may be a while though....my son is due in less than 2 months, so my 4runner budget is pretty tapped out for a while I think.

Yeah I agree with the spacer issue. Much better to go to a 9" wheel with 4.5 bs. As for the correct pressure :shrug: you're gonna get a wide range of opinion and the D or E argument. I run my 295 "E" at 36 lbs, they ride smooth and quiet, handle good and are wearing good so suits me fine.

Regardless of what you hear tire pressure is subjective. There is a range that is correct for normal use depending on weight, tire etc. Look at the sidewall and go from there. What you are looking for is a complete tread contact with road and no bulging or crowning.

Did a lot of reading on this forum and others that I was led to via my good friend google. As always, in the end, the knowledge from T4R was the most informative. As for what I learned...tire pressure can be confusing and very involved! I read anywhere from mid 20 psi all the way to the max 65 psi. Weighing all the options based on my research, I think I will air up to 38-40 psi and see how things feel. Based on some charts and info on a thread I managed to find on this forum, I have a feeling I will settle in around 38 psi. Ride comfort is important, but tire wear and performance are first and foremost on my list. I have to make sure that my family and I are as safe as possible (which is a big reason I chose the duratracs in the first place), and that I get the longest life possible out go my $1000+ investment. Ride and performance I can determine within minutes of hopping in the car....I am just afraid I won't notice poor tire wear until its too late. Didn't really mean for this thread to turn into another tire pressure thread, but thanks for all the responses.

I know there are a ton of you out there, so anyone actually running 285/70/17 Load D duratracs, I would love to know what pressure you run and your thoughts. I am specifically looking for just on road cruising. Just you and the runner (not towing or hauling anything significant).

Rarely if ever do they get specific about tire size and/or load rating. I was trying to be very specific as to not create a duplicate thread with info that is all over the place. Just forget I asked and let the thread die...

Why are you getting upset? Did you bother to read the link I posted, it gives you all the information you need to calculate what PSI you should run with whatever size and type of tires. I don't know how much more specific that can get to your situation. Just go through the charts and find the right PSI, set it there and monitor your tread wear after a few thousand miles and adjust accordingly...

Nobody is getting upset....sorry if it came across that way. And thank you for the post. I have already read that thread top to bottom. It does have some great information. And yes, with some interpolation, one can calculate the estimated "correct" tire pressure for an LT tire of various sizes and load ratings...but it is also very general. From the Toyo tables that those charts were based on show our P 265/70/70 tires inflated at the 32 PSI specified by the door sticker will yield a 2535lb load capacity. The table showing LT 285/70/17 reads that one should inflate to 45 PSI for about the same load capacity. I was told by more than 1 person and read "I would never run a tire that size over 35 PSI"...then I was told and read where others stated that "they would never run anything less than 44 PSI on any LT tire". Anyway, I was confused therefore was just asking specifically, other 285/70/17 Duratrac owners what pressure they are running. Not necessaruly the "correct" pressure...but personal experiences. What I was implying in my last post is that I realize that maybe I have asked the wrong question or asked it in the wrong way and I realize that this thread is going nowhere fast. I will just continue to search and read on my own. If anyone cares...I am going to run the tires at 35 PSI as inflated by the Goodyear Techs and evaluate in 3000 miles or so. I will give the Goodyear techs the benefit of the doubt as they are "suppose" to be the professionals on the subject.
