Dusty interior

I promise I searched. I have a 2015 SR5P, I always drive with the windows up and air on recirculate. I Vacuum it out twice a week and there is always a layer of dusty looking shit on the dash and especially the sides of center console.....any idea what is causing this.

It's inescapable. Keep in mind that a portion of that dust is dead skin that you naturally shed.

Edit: Are any of you using any product when you detail/clean the interior? Dust will stick more easily to product like Armor All. The best thing you can do for regular cleaning is a slightly damp microfiber cloth.

Same here. Seems like more than my other cars but just means I need to wipe it down. Usually I do it once a week when I give it a wash.
 
Man I posted about this last week on the General Discussion forum and some made light of it but it is very annoying. I wondered if there is some vent I'm leaving open or something. I drive with the windows closed and vent on recirculate as well, and still it's like I'm drawing a vacuum into the car and sucking dust in. Kind of makes me crazy.
 
Sometimes recirculation mode is not the solution. Using outside air (run through your cabin filter) will pressurize the interior. Here's what the manual says:

When driving on dusty roads
Close all windows. If dust thrown up by the vehicle is still drawn into the vehicle after closing the windows, it is recommended that the air intake mode be set to outside air mode and the fan speed to any setting except off.
 
I only use a damp microfiber cloth, never armor all or anything else. It's like a damn lint trap and I have that glorious faux leather so it's not coming from there. Very odd, hoping it goes away as it ages a little. By the way, it taste like dirt...lol
 
I've noticed the same thing in my Trail Premium. I assumed it was from the headliner where the sunroof cover is.
 
First backroad excursion on dusty roads = layer of dust all over the car. Wiped it down completely once, but it always comes back. Now I think of it as patina and just tell myself it adds character.
 
A different perspective;

I welcome a dusty dash, seems like it's just part of normal use of this type of vehicle. My 4Runner had <20 miles on it when it blasted down it's first dirt road with the windows down. I wipe the interior down and vacuum it about once a month, but it's usually covered in a layer of dirt, outside and in, shortly thereafter.

As a matter of fact, when I close the tailgate, a poof of dust comes out from below the rear window - even after a fresh bath. It's destined to be dusty, and it just feels right.

Twice a week? You must be more OCD than I am. I do notice dust but think of the crap that comes off your clothes every time you sit down. Then get out and close the door and agitate it some more. Then you have blowers running on hi stirring everything up.
 
glad it's not just me! I've found the same thing. Dust everywhere, especially on the sides of panels. I think the black color only adds to it.

and I don't know about you guys-- but the last several weeks have been nothing but pollen here.

I keep a microfiber cloth in the console because I am a bit of a 'neat vehicle enthusiast'. I also wipe down the softex with Mother's VLR. Great stuff.
