Easy fix for SR5 front flare

Well I have accepted that finding a driver's side mud guard is about like finding Bigfoot, next to impossible. So, as all of you know that have removed the running boards, there is a space underneath the front SR5 fender flare that is where the mud guards would fit and fill out the space. I had a brain fart last night that turned on a light bulb and I figured out I could pop off the plastic piece on the front of the running board that attaches to the front fender flare and modify it to work to at least make the front flare area in front of the front door look filled and flow better than nothing. My buddy and simply placed the piece off of the boards up into place, then marked the plastic with a tire pencil right at the spot where the bottom metal lip is located on the rocker panel under the doors and fender. From that we simply wrapped tape around the piece marking where we wanted to cut. I used a Dremel with cut off disc and cut off the excess plastic, leaving the two screw mounting holes that will fit right behind the front tire. To add some strength, we then used an 1 1/2" metal screw with a wide shoulder washer and ran the screw straight up thru the bottom of the piece we cut and into the bottom of the fender flare. It's not going go anywhere now. I hope this might help some of you 3rd gen owners that have removed your running boards and like me could not find a complete set of front mud guards.

The piece from the running board that mounts to the flare that has been cut off. This piece will get tossed. You can now see the upper piece fitted onto the front flair and how it now fills in the open space and looks much better.

Is that bedliner on the flares? Cant wait to see it match, looks good. I also wondered about cutting the rear stock flaps to fit up front. I mock'd a set up and it actually didnt look that far off for somebody ambitious enough (not like me)

Yes, it is Raptor Liner, that I sprayed on a few days ago. I have a thread in the 3Gen section about that.

Any problems with rubbing at full lock? What size tires are you running?
