removed the 2nd filter in the air box. feel no difference hear no difference....

lol ditto when I did it a few weeks back and replaced the stock filter with a performance one.



oh, and zero change in mpg



Only change I noticed is a gas smell at startup for the first minute or so. Definitely would not recommend this "mod"

Spent some time today and added aome USB ports in my center console. One hooks up to the stereo, the other is just for charging.

What schematics if any did you use for hook up?

Mind if I ask how you wired that switch? I have a rear LED and ordered a very similar four wire switch from another vendor (I should have checked Amazon first).

My current switch is a three wire unit -
wire 1: power from parking light circuit for switch power and switch LED light (I used an add-a-fuse in the under-dash fuse panel)
wire 2: connected to relay
wire 3: ground

These four wire switch instructions show the above three connections with the fourth wire connected directly to a source with inline fuse (assuming a direct battery connection?). But would this even be necessary if I'm getting power to the switch via the parking light circuit?

I only used 3 of the 4 wires. The fourth is for the back light, when you turn on your headlights. I don't care about that, so I only used three. I have a relay installed for my bar, and a fuse block I purchased. This diagram is what I used. Hopefully it helps.

Where did you find your LEDs for the interior? I want to do some purple ones, but can't seem to find them.

Just buy some 6500K+ = Purple

Just put in HVAC and speedometer LEDs from SB and Lighthouse. They look great and the HVAC cluster can easily be done in 10 minutes. Went for all white and red info display, which is more red in person.

beg your pardon kevinpt, thought i clicked on the right reply button connected to the appropriate thread. I have a 4th gen/2004 4r and am interested in removing the charcoal filter. The article/thread i found was for the v8 and the airbox in that article looked nothing like mine.

really simple to do, unlatch filter box, remove air filter, on the side intaking into the engine, there will be about 6-10 rivets holding hcf filter on, you just use a razor or something to sheer them off and then poof, take hcf off.

I have a white 05, and want to plasti-dip my wheels black BUT how do I do this??? Also, how do I keep the yota emblem on my center cap chrome? I'm purchasing a new set of BFG's this week, so should I plasti-dip before or after the new BFG's are on?? I'll be doing this job alone so any pointers to make it even easier for a one (wo)-man job would be much appreciated.

You probably figured something out long ago based on the date of your post, but if you go to #240 on page 16 of this weekend mod string you'll find your answer.

The speedo requires soldering, correct? Also how did you do the hvac lights. I've converted all of my dome lights to green LEDs and would like to convert these also.

Yes the speedo requires soldering tiny LEDs that are base mounted, no wires, making it even tougher.

SuperBrightLEDs has most the LEDs for the hvac. They are Neo3's and Neo4's.
LightHouseLEDs has the LEDs that you have to solder on.

Polk db 3.5 tweeters, Alpine 885bt headunit with 9band eq, added some more sound deadener behind the stereo and replaced all the broken clips that tore when I opened up the door.

Well I made it to page 25 for the first read through...I am going out to pull my HCF right now to get some cred on this forum. .1 mpg and some intake noise is all I need for justification! Other than that, the rubber mat fender liner is awesome, Key off 12V, maybe VSC delete but this rig is more of a toaster than a toy (needs to do one thing only and needs to do it very well; deliver my equipment for work)
