Thanks for the advice! How does it sound on the highway? I'd like something that has a good growl around town but isn't excessively loud but I'm most concerned about resonance at highway cruising speeds. I'd like it to have a good growl low down and virtually unnoticeable at highway speeds.

Everyone has a different opinion on drone, I personally didn't find the system to have any bad drone. It is quiet at highway speeds though, so no worries there. I put 40k+ on that system on less than 2 years.
My new system doesn't drone, but it's significantly louder.... Buahahaha

Driver Lower Dash Bolt

Does anyone know what the part number is for the driver lower dash bolts (QTY 2) that hold the under steering wheel panel on?

I'm new to this site but I have had my 06 V8 SR5 for almost 4 years now and I love it. Recently I have been considering an exhaust swap/upgrade and I'm looking for some advice on which kit I should be looking at. I'm in PA so I'm thinking stainless would be a good idea. I was also thinking a CAT back kit would be my best option. So far I have looked around on-line and found a nice looking (but expensive) Magnaflow kit and a more reasonable Gibson kit. Has anyone one here had any experience with these kits? Are there any others out there that you can recommend? I've seen some YouTube videos of V8s with a Borla system which sounds great but I can't find the kit on the Borla site. Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks!

I cant find an exact match for my 06 4Runner V8 on the Doug Thorley website. This is all I can find:

Cat-back Exhaust System, 1998-05 Toyota Land Cruiser 100-Series / Lexu ? Doug Thorley Headers

Is that the correct kit? Will it fit my vehicle with out major mods during installation?

Wired my led lights into my blinker wires. Easy with no other modification needed.

Over this weekend, I swapped the factory air box for a K&N cone kit, and added an Innovative Performance Chip.

Around town, the average I usually saw was 17.2 to 17.6 mpg. After these swaps, I instantly saw it average up to 20.2 around town.

And the throttle response is awesome - not to mention it sounds badass! Completely normal sound with normal driving, but when you get into it, it makes me smile

Definite HP gain. Not a huge gain, but it's definitely there.

Tapped power from the cigarette lighter (10 Amp) which I never use anyway.
One has the voltmeter which is a nice feature. Each is rated at 2.1 amps so no threat of popping the lighter fuse.
Chose blue as I'll be doing the dash lighting shortly.

I have a magnaflow cat back and (though I was warned by a few members on here about the fact that it drones) it hardly drones at all. I've put 4K miles on it now and while it may have gotten marginally louder since day 1 - I haven't noticed.
It is definitely louder than stock but nothing you can't quietly speak over at highway speeds. Goes to show you how opinions differ. I think it sounds great!!!!
Plus the dual tip looks cool IMO.
Something to consider.

Not a damn thing in my opinion. I didn't notice a single difference.

Remove the running boards!! I know it seems like a silly thing to do but it's very simple (did it myself in about 20 minutes) and can make your rig look 10x better. There are just a few nuts that can be easily taken out on the underside and it comes right off. And bam you don't get mud all over your leg every time you get out.

+1 on this mod. One of the very first things I did. Every generation 4Runner looks better with this mod IMHO.

This thread makes my head spin! I have been a T4R owner for about 2 months now, and I'm itching to mod things. I have a 2005 2WD V8, and I have already installed an auxiliary battery and Gobi Stealth rack. I have a cheapo 42" light bar, which I will install once I get my wiring and mod plans together. I'm looking into a Busmann relay box for switches under the hood.

Here's the question: Out of the mods listed in this thread, what will be the most beneficial and cost efficient for a NOOB like me?

The best thing I ever read on this site, (I'm sorry I don't remember who said it so I can't give credit) was to do mods that are tailored to your needs.
The locked/lifted rigs are awesome and we all want them, but mod your truck based on what makes your life easier.
The ultimate goal is that over time everything comes together to best fit your needs....so unfortunately we can't really answer the question of what would be most beneficial to YOU.
