Electrical Problem

Hi All -

Have a 2013 SR5. I was changing the LED bulb I had put in the dome light, and somehow I blew the fuse for the interior lighting. I replaced that fuse and the lights worked again, no problem.

I went back into the front of the car and realized that there were a few things not working properly. Before I spend half a day at the dealer I wanted to see if you all had any ideas for a fix. Here are the issues:

1. Power locks only work when the car is on (engine doesn't need to be on, but the key needs to be turned 1 notch to get the electrical items going)
2. The remote lock/unlock on the key does not work.
2. The MPGs reset to 0.0 and the clock to 1:00 every time I turn the car on/off.
3. The slip light is constantly on (yellow).
4. The airbag? light is on constantly (red). - It's the one showing the seat with a circle on the passengers lap.

You were changing an existing LED in the Cabin Dome Light?
Or, you were attempting to change the existing incandescent, to LED?

Did you short-circuit the lamp ends with something metal?

What type of LED were you trying to install?....tubular type or, flat board type?

Sounds like you might still have a "high-resistance" ground if all those other things are happening now.

Did you insulate the back of the board, if that is what you were installing?

Just curious,

Have you tried disconnecting the battery (count to 10... ), then reconnect? Sounds like something needs resetting.

Or, you were attempting to change the existing incandescent, to LED?

Did you short-circuit the lamp ends with something metal?

What type of LED were you trying to install?....tubular type or, flat board type?

Sounds like you might still have a "high-resistance" ground if all those other things are happening now.

Did you insulate the back of the board, if that is what you were installing?

I have to agree, something is a little off, there are more circuits involved in your complaint than should be connected to the dome light circuit.

Changing an existing LED in the cabin dome light to another LED light. Exact same type of light. (attached a pic).

I didn't do anything with the first LED i put in except pop out the incandescent bulb and pop in the LED. No Problems. So I guess no insulation or anything. This is the kit I bought: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00FW1JXGO/ref=oh_details_o08_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Also - I installed the LEDs months ago and everything was fine until today, when I replaced just the dome light. Didn't do anything else on the car.

Fixed

Disconnected the battery for twenty minutes, which did nothing on its own.

Then, disconnected the DOME fuse and noticed that everything except lights started working again. Plugged DOME fuse back in and now everything works again. Weird!
