Elocker's

hm, a bit more checking, apparently HARROP manufactures the Elockers for Eaton. so perhaps they don't sell a complete 3rd member. the way I had originally read it was they were providing a completed package. since you can(or so I thought) go buy an elocker anywhere.

altho, there are MANY places that will sell you a complete locked 3rd, why is it unreasonable that this place doesn't do that?

Actually, HARROP is one of the distributors for our differentials.

Well they are slow responding but they do respond
Before the group buy these
The front is $1335 USD + freight
The Rear is $1215 USD + freight.
They are electro magnitic so it's like the air locker but no air
I am hoping it will be a much better price but we will see

did you find out, is this for JUST the locker? or complete 3rds?

that price, seems like a complete 3rd price. if just the locker, that's kind of high...

also, how many do they need for a GB?

I allready asked those questions so when I hear back I will let everyone know
I found out about these guys from eaton these are billet aluminum if I remember correctly

True, but I don't think they were talking about V8 Runners specifically. I didn't see anything that fit our trucks or FJC's at all in the application guide that was linked. Maybe I missed it.

Edit: in the elocker flavor

what kind of axle do you think runs in the hilux

86-95 4cyl Turbo and V6* trucks and 4runners, and ALL '96+ 4Runners use the Toyota 8" 4-pinion differential in the rear. This diff is known as the "V6/Turbo diff."
- Stronger housing than the 4cyl diff
- Larger carrier bearings than the 4cyl diff
- 30 spline axles
- 27 spline pinion (pre-'96)
- Ten 10mm ring gear bolts
- 8mm axle housing studs with 12mm nuts
- 4-pinion carrier (case)
- 4cyl 8" diff carriers (cases) do not fit without custom carrier bearing adapters ($), try Inchworm Gear
- A few pre-'96 V6 trucks and 4runners have been found to have come with the 4cyl style diff from the factory. Nobody knows why.
* LPH/SPH gear info: http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showpost.php?p=1478223&postcount=73

'96-up 4runner V6 diffs:
- new improved housing that looks the same as the T100/Tundra/Tacoma diff on the outside, internals are all the same as the regular V6 diff
- 30 spline pinion on OEM gears, swap pinion flange to 27 spline to use aftermarket gears

A hilux axle. Assuming that it's universal is a good way to get in trouble. I knew a guy that put a TJM airlocker from an LC in his truck that had clearance issues. I'd have much more piece of mind if the application guide had a line item for 4Runner/FJC with an elocker model number associated. Not saying it won't work. But you ain't gonna get me to order a locker that cost well over a grand and have it shipped from OZ without 100% conformation that it will work in my truck. maybe that's just me.

lol, there are a few accounts of the TJM working fine in our 4runners I haven't a clue why it wasnt a drop in unit for me. I could have taken a hammer and beat out the back side of the housing to get that solenoid the space it needed. In hind sight i wish i had done that in place of using the ARB.

I think the reason you find the lack of the 4th gen 4runner specifically listed is that it isnt and hasnt become the most common platform to build up in this mannor. The same reason you find many more off-road mod options for other toyota vehicles opposed to the 4th gen.

G'day guys,

Ben from Harrop here.

Feel free to shoot me through an questions.

Thanks to Crashman for being the translator over the last week you've done a great job

Thanks for being here Ben. I'll ask a question asked by someone earlier: Are we talking about just a locker or a complete 3rd?

I can start from one post
How many miles have you seen on the lockers and any issues yet?

We have seen many different vehicles from Hilux's, Landcruisers etc with 100k+ miles put on them with trouble free motoring.

In the ELocker we dont run any rubber O'rings, plastic pistons or compressors to worry about so essentially once fitted there really isnt a whole lot that can go wrong. Usually we will see a crown wheel wear out first.

I have them in my Patrol and have come from 8 years of working at ARB HO and can tell you I love my ELockers, and so does the missus because when im using them the truck isnt noisy with a compressor running.

Hi Mate, I think this image should be able to settle the argument with exactly what you get with the purchase of your Harrop ELocker.
