Embarrassed

All good input on a self rescue but some of you guys are going to the dark side.

I can appreciate that the scenario changes based on region, but I'm not going to freeze to death if I get stuck somewhere.

I guess the maxtrax, and a shovel are going to be it for now as I haven't heard anyone say they have used a come along to get unstuck.

Nice pics!

Remember, NEVER off-road alone. If you do decide to take that risk then tell people where you are going and how long you expect to be or when you will return.

Unfortunately for years I have had only one day a week off, Tuesday, and have been unable to find others to go out with me hence going out solo. Recently switched to Sunday off and have been looking for someone to hit some trails with me. I always tell someone where I'm going and when I expect to be back which is great advice. Now with the Garmin InReach, I leave it on the whole time and my wife and friends can track where I am and even text me on it. The biggest thing to remember going out solo is don't do anything stupid!

I've been going alone all over Nevada and the Mojave desert for years. Going alone is fine as long as you know your limitations and don't do anything stupid. Don't take risks. If you come to a spot you're not sure you can get through, don't try it. Also, have plans in place for what to do in a bad situation, such as breaking down in the middle of nowhere with no cell service. If possible, rent a satellite phone for your trip.
