Personally, I don't disagree with the statement that we are all racist. I do feel that everyone has their inherent racist tendencies. But I feel the way you use it is where I have the issue. That it somehow excuses or cancels each other out. I feel like you are using it for a justification and the more you use it and say it, the more comfortable you are with your own racist/bigoted/sexist (whatever label you want to put on it) views and thoughts.
But you are most definitely not on your own.

I also don't disagree with your belief that it is the "acceptance" of racism where you find levels. But I strongly believe that you are leaving out the more important side which is the "presentation" of one's racism.
I could very well be racist towards say white people. But it's how I choose to present that racism that has it's largest effect. If I leave my house and interact with people the same no matter what their race may be, despite my inherent racism towards white people, that is a level of presentation that is very small. If I decide to go out to someplace where I know there is a large group of white people and shoot them all, it is my own presentation of my racism that then has the much larger level and effect. Not one's "acceptance" of that racism.

Not at all. I have posted before that, while racism is inherent in all of us, it affects all of us differently. Some people have those thoughts and do nothing, say nothing and it just turns into a passing thought. Some, like Trump, believes that opening his mouth and saying racist crap is OK. I don't agree BTW. Some people let it fester in their minds and it grows into a hate filled, all consuming life altering event and they physically act on it by killing or maiming people. Hitler took it to that extreme and many others to a lesser degree.
It all started with racist thoughts. How the person handled it is where degrees or levels come into play.
I do not condone racism or sexism or any of that. I hate it when I hear something racist. I mentally slap myself when I think that black guys are better basketball players for example. I think Trump shouldn't have said what he said. I think people like Sharpton and Jackson should quit fanning the flames. I think I should be a better person. Racism is racism and we all have it. How we act upon those thoughts is where the problems or solutions lie.

I seriously doubt that journal, even if it does indicate that humans are all racist under the covers, I doubt it goes on to say that there are not shades of racism.
Yes there are studies that show subconscious racism exists even in those you would least expect. For example the study where fast moving pictures are presented and subjects click through them. The results showed sub conscious bias in people from all backgrounds and ethnicities, even minorities being biased against minorities.
So yes all humans are biased somehow.
But NO that doesn't mean there are no shades of racism. And no lynching someone because of their race or committing genocide is not the "same racism" as a woman crossing the street to avoid an ethnicity type. That logic is dangerous because it excuses overt racism under the guise that "hey we're all a bit racist so whatever"

But don't you see how that goes against say the analogy of the speeding driver that you used? You used the analogy to show that the offense is the same, but it's the acceptance which is different. Now if I were to use your quoted response above, it is also the speeder who is choosing to act differently by going grossly over the speed limit as opposed to going 10 over.

I'm pro police. So I support some reforms like enforcing body cameras and making the footage available within 90 days? Yes.
I'm pro gun. Definitely against most of the recent gun restrictions passed in California. Mainly because they don't work and in practice only limit the rights of lawful gun owners while criminals just do whatever they want anyways.

I'm faced with either a lot of reading or concluding you're citing some obscure bit written by someone voicing an opinion based on questionable data.

Did she or did she not get him a reduced sentence? I don't care about snopes lame 2014 statistics either... And yes she did laugh! Even if it was about the lie detector that isn't exactly the response one would expect in a child molestation case.
