Factory JBL Sub enclosure

Hi,
Looking for the Toyota part number for the factory JBL sub woofer enclosure. I have an 08' SR5 with the non JBL base stereo system. If any one is upgrading or has one of these units you would like to sell, please contact me. Going to keep checking the classifieds here and Ebay etc, if not I will have to bite the bullet. Just ordered new HU, front speaker components (not sure which way to go with the rear doors until i get a look in there) backup camera. Will post the build as I move ahead,

I'm on my 2nd 4Runner. The 1st was a '98 Sr5, and my new one is a 2012 Limited. As a hobbist, I work on "pro-sound audio equipment, specializing in "Sub-woofers; I'm also a bass player, which is how I became interested in "Low freqency pro-audio".

I love "JBL", But I gotta say, for "mobile audio subs", I really wish you would check out "JL Audio".
JBL lead the way for many yrs in the 50's, 60's and the 70's. But now there are so many great alternatives to jbl, altec lansing, electro-voice...etc; and I've used them ALL!

JL audio is the true "industry Leader" now, when it comes to mobile audio. I'm not a salesman, nor do I work with any audio company. But I've used JL Audio subs in both of my 4Runners and they are AMAZING!

Because jbl has done such a good job in their engineering dept in the past, they believed that they could fold their arms and relax a while. In the mean time, many other speaker design companies have, not only caught up with jbl's technology, but have developed new materials that can tolerate more "overdrive abuse", while their cooling systems protect the "moving motor parts" alot better than what was available back in the 80's and the 90's.

I'm not here trying to discourage you from buying JBL equipment, but just letting you know that there is higher quality equipment available to you, and at 1/3 the cost.

No need to buy one...you can make one over the weekend....I presume you must have a 12" sub so in that case the box dimensions should be 36 * 18 * 34 inches.

If you want more boomy bass then you will have to create a vent. That should be 2 inches in diameter. Drill the vent hole about 4 inches below the sub so that you get the best air push. Create separate holes for your sub to fit in and that's all !!!!

I always create my own boxes and they sound better than any factory made boxes.....If you need any help PM me.

Appreciate the feedback, i am trying to save as much room in the cargo area as possible, and also to protect the sub. I a have a big(140#) slobbering dog who rides in the back. I am going to be patient and keep looking for a used sub woofer enclosure that i can fit into the passenger side cargo storeage area. I plan to do what ither members on the forum have done and swap out the sub woofer speaker. Thanks
 
I found one on here or 120 just a couple months I will be installing this coming week or so...they are out there. Be patient. I was and one popped up before i knew it.

Patience is indeed a virtue. Finally got the enclosure from a fellow forum member. Did the mods to the enclosure per instructions from previous threads on this forum. Installed this JL Audio 8W1v2-4 subwoofer, and played around with some poly fill. I also removed the factory wiring harness and ran some quality speaker wire from the sub and out thru the grommet, siliconed up the factory mounting holes. It's sealed up pretty well. Gave a quick test in the trunk of my beater work Accord with the same JL amp as I am installing in the T4R. Exceeded my expectations, hoping to get similar sound from the factory location. Thanks to all who responded and to all the great contibutors on this forum. Quick questions, are their already bolts behind the cargo panel to attach the enclosure, or do I have to buy something. If so any body have a recommended size and type of screw/bolt.

If I remember correctly, the storage bin that you will remove and replace with the sub enclosure is held in place with two bolts. You'll need a few more of the same size, as the sub enclosure bolts on in 6 spots. Can't remember what size, though...probably 10 or 12mm.
 
Looking for the same thing. Anyone selling the enclosure? Does anyone know the part number?

Since I have a non-JBL system so is there anything that can help me from this point in adding a subwoofer to that area?
