TRD, amen to that. I'm only 19 but i feel you on the budget thing. To each man, his own. I'd love to do anything drastic to my car, like wheels, or even tail lights or a suspension lift. I have a girlfriend that I pay just about everything for, spend hundreds on to go visit (ugh, having a girlfriend who lives 700 miles from you hurts the wallet big time). But congrats on being extremely self sufficient with a fiance and kid too. I'd take those from you for a hundred if you'd like to make a quick eighty bucks. Looks good, and maybe I'll be able to afford upgrades soon.

I understand they are not everyones first choice in wheels and believe me they would not be my first choice either. But I literally have less than $20 in them and had them mounted for free so if I ended up not liking them I can chalk it up as an experiment and sell them or something.

I am 21 years old living out on my own and working full time to support my fiance in nursing school and our 8 month old baby boy. I bought this truck with my own money, I pay my own insurance and I pay every bill on my own so forgive me if I can't afford some 16x8 wheels with -20 offset. When you are living like I am you have to take what you can get. If I wanted some run of the mill pro comp wheels that everyone else has then I might as well just stuck with the stock split 3 spokes, but I thought I would try and be different from most. I would eventually like to get some LX 450 wheels but for $20 these will do for now.

Thanks for those of you who left positive feedback, I work hard to make this truck unique on the budget I'm on.

Um, no one is questioning your work ethic nor your sense of style. This is a public forum. Not everyone is going to agree with what you like. When you post something publically, get ready for some criticism, because they will come. You just have to try and learn from others' points of view and not take it too personally.

trd_4runnin, we all have different taste. Personally, I like a wheel that fills out the wide flare on a 4Runner vs a wheel that doesn't do so. We may disagree, but so what. Everyone has their own personal taste of what they like...and I'm glad we do. I'd hate to see everyone drive a 4Runner that looked just like mine.

And trust me, I know what it's like to live on a tight budget too...just b/c I'm older than you, doesn't mean that I'm living the "high life" by any means. Honestly, I know of only a handful of individuals on these boards than can afford to throw gobs & gobs of money into their 4Runner w/o consequences. However, most individuals (myself included), cannot afford to do so.

Again, I'm not bashing your choice in wheels, just wanting to make a point - Saying that you added something to your 4Runner b/c you got it for free, doesn't always make for a good argument as to why it's there. There's tons of stuff I could get for less than nothing to add to my 4Runner, but I'd much rather wait and save up my money for something I really wanted instead. :bigok:

But hey, as long as your happy with your wheels, that's all that matters. When it comes down to it, you're the one driving it not me

I understand this is a public forum and to expect constructive criticism when posting any mods or pictures of my truck. I only wanted to explain that while they are not my first choice of wheel either, they set my 4Runner apart from the crowd (around here anyways.) And when you work as hard as I do to support a family you feel good about even the slightest, most insignificant details to a truck. I have never seen these particular wheels on a 3rd gen 4Runner before, especially painted black and that is what I like about them. I plan on investing in some wheel spacers as soon as I sell the old wheels and I really think that will improve the look.

You guys feel the same way about the wheels and tires on my 4Runner as I do. I was given an opportunity for a free set of wheels and while I was unsure what the outcome would be I still have a very little amount of money in the project. Had I disliked the wheels I could have had the old ones remounted and sold or given these away and still only been out $20.

I know that no one was questioning my work ethic, I was only trying to state that I think anyone in my position would have said "yes" to a free set of wheels, and you can still save for what you really want because you tried something different and aren't out any money.
