Finally! Painting OEM Wheels

Just made my 5th trip to Home Depot.To buy another wire wheel.

Rims done

I decided I would paint the rear spoiler the color of the rims.
I used some abrasive paint remover shown below.

Also painted hub-caps black. I love the way it turned out.

2 Cans of Primer
2 Cans of Paint
1 Can of Finish

Nice, I just picked up my primer and paint. No clear coat for me as I will probably scrape them on rocks and it will be easier to touch up. Plus I don't want a shiny finish. Lets see a pick of that spoiler. Kind of crazy to see that all bubbling.

One coat of that paint remover and the whole spoiler was bare medal. Now imagine what happens when you get some on your skin. It's real painful real quick.

Spoiler will be done this weekend.

Just wondering, were you able to get the spoiler done? The 2-tone on the wheels turned out nice! Good work!

Spoiler Update as requested: After a month, I hated the Grey Spoiler, so took it off and painted it Black.


The Wheels held up GREAT off roading today!

2 years and 3 months later and the paint is finally starting to fade.

How many hours just painting or prep work too?

Just painting probably 4 coats with 30 minutes to dry in between, so 2 hours to paint 2 wheels.

Prep work too, probably 2 hours a wheel in prep with primer and everything.

So together from start to finish 6 hours for 2 wheels.

The more prep time spent, the longer they last
