FJ Summit 2012 in Ouray, CO July 18-22, 2012.

Got the CB and antenna installed and wired up (with lots of harassing questions to Antman...THANK YOU!!!) so I'm ready to roll.

Thinking about getting a second shorter antenna for around town, 4ft is quite the whip in the city with garages. I'll just store the SWR meter in the car for swaps.

I have a 2ft as well, although that is still to tall to leave on when parking in my garage at home. You don't need to keep the SWR meter in your truck. Once you have tuned the antenna, you can swap between the two at will because each will be tuned specifically for your radio (it's the antenna that's tuned; not the radio).

Mine is in as well; just need to find some time to do the full write up.

I'm not privileged to have an awesome man garage living in a condo so it's gonna get its own little home in the 4R. Probably in the wheel well "secret" storage since that isn't a quick easy grab and I won't move it every time I need to get in my cargo box.

I also tought about getting a quick release and storing the 4' in the back or two, one for each antenna. That way if I know I'm gonna be in a low garage or am headed out of town I could easily put them in a safe place.

Not 100% sure as of right now. I'm going to talk it over with the guys, but I'll be bringing my rig for sure. And Yes, I-70 all the way over, not looking forward to the drive through Kansas lol.

Quick question while I'm figuring out expenses and everything for everyone. I noticed on the registration, it costs $160 to go? :wow2: I'm not trying to sound like a tool, but what exactly does that cover?

It adds up when you have to drive 20 hours, 14mpg, and gas estimated to be $5 by summer. I'm not complaining about $160, I just wanted to know what it covered so I can tell my fellow wheelers from Missouri why it costs $160 to enter.

Re-reading my post it seems a bit more ****ish than I originally intended, so I apologize for that. IMO, $160 seems like a reasonable cost for all the support that seems to go along with the event. Just tell your buddies to pay as early as possible; that way by the time the summit rolls around it'll be like they never had to pay for it!

I hear ya... but still cheaper and more fun than flying nowadays! The $160 is the vehicle and driver. it's an extra $35 per passenger. so the average cost will be lower per person if the total cost per vehicle is equally split between all the occupants (well at least for the driver)... just a thought.
