Flemster's 2000 SR5 Sport

The Control arms are starting to settle and feel much nicer, the poly bushings are definitely stiffer and make for a bumpier ride but feel firm and definitely improved the handling in the highway, much more steady! I still have a gnarly clunk which I'm assuming is my rear right wheel bearing/axle bearing. It's an odd sound and hard to pinpoint but I'm going to go to a Toyota dealership to diagnose and hopefully replace over thanks giving! Also some glamour shots of the pretty nightmare!

Another update! Fun stufff.... I mean really fun stuff. Hopefully have the axle shaft replaced early on during break.

Lifted up the truck to track down my wobbly passenger rear wheel. I believe it's a bent axle shaft but it's not leaking nor does the bearing make noise which I find odd.

That sucks about the shock. Isn't that the second time that has happened to your Fox shocks? If I were you, I would just pick up a pair of LC Tokico black shocks and call her done. They are cheap enough to try out, and if you don't like them, you can try something else and sell them for little if any loss. Or, it might be useful to have as a back up option for how often the Foxes are breaking. Still digging your build though.

The new plan is custom geometry with king 2.5"s [emoji51] Gonna be a project but should be done within the next few months thanks to TCmach.... So if your geometry isn't as ef'd as mine I will have some fox 2.0s for sale!

Haha I know that damn dust all too well. Can't even see it on the outside of mine though :hat: Looks like we have the same CB radio - after 3 years of being bugged by it sticking out despite having a right angle plug on it, I finally removed the useless/not even plugged in stock amplifier behind the dash and it's nice and flush now.

You should give camping up at Red Feather a shot sometime if you haven't already. Around half the time to get there from Fort Collins than the middle of Pingree Park rd. I know a few jaw dropping spots that can accommodate a dozen or more vehicles and you can go an entire weekend without having a single person stumble upon your camp. Generators, guns, music all night - won't bother a soul. 4G LTE on VZW/T-Mobile/AT&T/Hotspot with external antenna works really well in a couple spots too which seems to keep lesser enthused ladies happy.

There's a ton of weird trails to explore in that area as well. Nothing cooler than cresting a hill and finding yourself in a completely secluded postcard-worthy meadow. Tire tracks don't go away very quickly up there so you can pick em out using Google earth and then cross reference with Larimer County & Forest Service maps to make sure you're in the clear

Lemme know if you want some coordinates or are down for a cold weather camping trip.

I just posted all that as a peace offering as I'm about to borrow many concepts from your roof rack haha.

Sounds like a blast! I may be able to do something over break, though my drive will be a little longer coming from Morrison!

Is your turn signal in your parking light housing?

If so, could you send me a link to a write-up on how to do it?

Some new stuff and some fixed stuff!
Hayden welded up my exhaust a little to get it off the frame. Round 2

Then today I wired in a backup Camera that my sister bought me.
Had to pull out the stereo deck which always is just annoying
0a5badbf68d4c2ffe250cc4d00872d19.jpg

Then the yellow AV cable went to RCAM IN on the back and I also had to wire the reverse trigger which I just ran all the way to the reverse light and just followed the AV cable all the way to the rear which is also where my CB coaxle Runs.
Mounted it on my swing out, it came with an adhesive pad but didn't stick to the textured powder coat so. As shitt as it looks. I taped it. It holds and works perfect

And after all the wiring the moment of truth.......

It worked!
Also got a Baofeng UV-5RV2+

Nice handheld. How do you like it and what is the effective range? Also, how are you liking your KO2s in the snow so far?

Manuel says 10-12km which I think is a best case scenario, in the mountains Im assuming 2-3 miles max. Have yet to use it as a radio, only as a Scanner till I can take time to get my HAM License.

I like the idea of a portable option. I wonder what a vehicle mounted radio range with mounted antenna is. I think that you are right about the limitations land features that mountains and valleys pose. I think it would be cool to have a vehicle booster, and mounted antenna when you are in your vehicle, but the ability to use the mobile handset when desired.

Nice rig! It looks like you're having a blast in the snow. We don't get much of that here in SoCal, so I'm definitely feeling the winter vibes in this thread.

Hey it's Kansd from the fb group. Posted about the ko2s yesterday, beautiful thread, the photos are ridiculous. All the best with the schooling

Rear Axle Shaft Replacement

Finally got around to this after having a bent passenger rear axle shaft for 8 months ish. I believe I bent it at Rock Therapy because thats the first time I was told "Hey, your back right tire looks like its gonna fall off!" I figured it was just some thrown weights. But after multiple balances and other stuff I FINALLY got around to it. I picked up a spare Hub Assembly and Axle from ajordan1975 (Thank you for hooking me up, bummed it didn't work) that ended up not working in the pinch I had. The axle it came out of trashed the internal brake parts covering them all in gear oil and I'm assuming the Brake pads sponged up with gear oil also. SO after tearing it all apart I ended up putting it all back together and bleed the brakes to drive 45 minutes to Insain Fabs shop the next morning, where I bought a complete hub assembly with no gear oil covering it and only about 75k on the clock. SWEEET. Drove home and swapped it in under 30min and bleed the brakes. GOOD AS NEW!

What I needed for the job
-10mm Wrench
-14mm wrench and another 12point wrench to use as leverage
-Hammer
-Needle Nose Pliers
-Gear Oil
-Dot 3 Brake Fluid of your choice (I used Orielly's Brand)
-A brake bleeder or a Cup and Aquarium Tube which is what I used
-Also the breaker bar to remove your tire and in my case wheel spacer
-Shop Rag
-Brake Cleaner
-409
-Black Paint if you want to paint your drums, I will do this sometime in the future
-Something to stop the brake fluid from going everywhere. I used a plastic bag and a rubber band

The bent axle Hub Assembly ready to come out
You have to remove the pin for the ebrake cable, I used pliers for the Cotter Pin and used a hammer and a Allen key to hammer out the pin after soaking it with PB Blaster. Then unthread all the nuts on the back as well as remove the hard brake line from the drum and use something to stop the flow or let it leak all over your shop floor/driveway!

Here it is with the axle pulled slightly out, notice the 4 holes, only three visible. This is where the 14mm bolts go that you have to remove the nuts off of to remove the shaft and assembly. Also the bag and rubber band keeping the brake fluid from leaking. Also the Ebrake cable is barely noticeable on the left of the axle hanging down below the top left hole.

Here is the axle seal and the 4 holes mentioned above. Also on the outside of the ring there is a large oring that goes all the way around it not pictured. I spend time cleaning this by hand with paper towel and I also used a shop rag to clean the axle seal then re applied a thin layer for gear oil to each before re installing.

The new one is then carefully CAREFULLY slid in, be sure not to hit the axle seal of damage the teeth on the shaft. Take your time and if its too heavy ask someone to help you hold it. After that bolt it back in with the 14mm nuts and reattach brake hardware then bleed brakes and adjust parking brake. AND YOU ARE DONE. Pretty much the same process as replacing your axle seal. If you want more information on these parts and more indepth look at everything look at this write up from BigFishAllDay Rear Axle Seal Thread

Some other things I did for pete sake was clean my drum brake parts, I just blasted them with brake clean and then wiped the pads off as well as where they make contack in the drum.
