It has been pretty frustrating for me as well especially since I have spent so much time fighting my lens before I realized it was why they never really come out as clear as Id like. I know my camera body is capable of taking the pictures I want because I can get it to work with the fixed 50mm lens but my zoom lens (tamron 18-250) just cant focus in like it should. Im probably going to sell it or my 75-300 soon and pick up a 24-105 L and give that a shot

24-105l is basically all I use besides sometimes the nifty 50 because it rocks. Saving for a 70-200 f2.8 eventually.
I mean.... At least someone will like it till I either Cut them past the holes or find new flares because all the glass options are ugly as sin for our trucks....I like the no front flares

Said goodbye to everyone but [MENTION=78892]Fishwerks[/MENTION] and [MENTION=107971]derpiful[/MENTION] in the morning. Chris's way home was past the dunes so we talked him into going out there with us.
The dunes are a pretty cool spot out near Behind the Rocks Trail, been there many times. Send it, take cool pics, and break shit basically.
Hayden finally found a good use for the Bro Comps other than being brotastic

Definitely about the mall crawl, but these days I'm more about "park the 4runner in the garage and leave it there for a week".
Glad you could make the trip man! Photos are awesome per usual! Hope you get the 4runner fixed up without too much hassle.

Fantastic photos as always, Alex!
Looks like it was a fun time! Great group of people to be with. Poison Spider is a very neat trail from what I remember of it. Any plans to do the whole trifecta path (with golden spike and gold bar rim)? I can understand not doing it with the truck running weird though. I have been wanting to get back and run that whole thing again some day.
I hope Kevin is back on his feet soon!

I would run it again with a smaller group of dedicated folks. It was a bear to get through in a day 4 years ago and we only had 6 rigs. And its only gotten worse since then, heck back then I drove up waterfall on gold bar in the dark and didn't give it a second thought. Now they've installed a winch point above it.
Only plus is most of Poison Spider and Golden Spike is rock so its not getting any worse and the trail is much better marked than it used to be. The transition from Golden Spike through body snatcher to Gold Bar was a nightmare to find in the dark back then.

To do it now it would be at least 10 hours assuming everyone was hauling ass and had very few stops. It took us 5 hours to get to the end of gold bar where it goes into golden spike and that was with only 1 major stop at the waterfall. I didn't have any issues coming up the waterfall but I took the right-hand line where there has been a lot of rocks stacked up and it puts your passenger fender dangerously close to a rock.
The transition from golden spike to gold bar rim still isnt very well marked, there are probably half a dozen different routes that go through there and double whammy but none are marked.
I might give the whole trifecta a shot next year but it will be a long day.

After some fun dunes romping (I basically just watched because I was trying to baby my baby) we said goodbye to Chris who headed home and myself, [MENTION=107971]derpiful[/MENTION] his GF and our friend Cameron went to Moab Brewery for lunch. Smart decision to go for lunch as opposed to when we got off the trail. There was no wait, 30 minutes to get our food. We were in and out in about an hour. Usually it is an hour wait for a seat, then 45+ for food. So score!!
Off to Fins and Things which was a trail I did about 4 years ago with family. Forgot how damn fun that trail is.
The trail starts off right away with some fun flexy options and sorta deters the people that don't know the capability of their vehicles which is cool.

Coming off the trail, an elder soul walks up to me and proceeds to tell me that a couple is stuck at the porta potty and needs help because they dropped their cell phone down the toilet and can't get it. She then tells me they CALLED 911 and let them know their "EMERGENCY"..... uhh WTF. We drove off and decided not to help those idiots... I hope the Park Service Officials came, gave them a ticket for improper use of a public outhouse and then left.

There are some long stretches of just annoying bumps and drops but we made quick work of it because racecar as per usual.

Story time... Coming off the trail, an elder soul walks up to me and proceeds to tell me that a couple is stuck at the porta potty and needs help because they dropped their cell phone down the toilet and can't get it. She then tells me they CALLED 911 and let them know their "EMERGENCY"..... uhh WTF. We drove off and decided not to help those idiots... I hope the Park Service Officials came, gave them a ticket for improper use of a public outhouse and then left.

Great pictures and report of your trip! I can't wait to get to Moab (hoping this year but most likely 2019/2020...). I'm contemplating going to FJ Summit just to go but I know my son in the car for that long could be difficult, but we shall see .

Meet the Flemings
Said goodbye to [MENTION=107971]derpiful[/MENTION] and Cameron by taking one more trip to the dunes and taking some glory shots of their rigs in front of the La Sals. We said our goodbyes where they headed to Colorado and I headed south to Blanding to meet the folks.
Waking up at camp around 8, waiting for the sun to hit because it was chilllly.

Drove the hour and a half south and met my parents and sister. My puppy was happy to see them. This is his Dirtymax with a Rocky Mountain Four Wheel Camper Hawk series. It's pretty darn sweet.
