Right on. Mine is similar and max articulation. My tires are new so they probably rub more now, but trying to figure out how much I want to sort it out or cut. I am looking at seeing if swapping out DuroBumps from Plastics guy would make much a difference.

Any chance you can find out where ur friend got those headlights? I wanta replace them with those kind.

My old headlights were from a guy called Rogue Retrofit. But was not very impressed by them. I replaced them with lights built by SRQ FAbrications which are made of much higher quality components.

It's been a while...
Since I've last posted I have done a couple of things, ran a couple of trails, and broke a few things.

I then proceeded to blow both of my diffs on Top of The World of all places.
Front blew big time, didn't realize the rear was blown as well. Managed to finish the trail.

I got lucky. Hayden had just regeared to 5.29's so I was able to install his old 4.10's and send my blown 4.30's in as the cores. So I was up and running in 2 days. Swapped both basically by myself in about a total of 12 hours.
Got in a short weekend trip to test everything before heading off on a little 1000 mile road trip.

After being on the river for 8 days in Utah I came to my truck that had been sitting on a slight hill. I went to start it up to head back home, I found that one of my cylinders had hydro locked. I ended up figuring out which cylinder it was and cleared it out. Honestly pretty hilarious process but overall super bummed because it means my head gasket leak was way worse than I thought.

Drove 80 miles to Fort Colling and poured in a bottle of K-Seal and honestly, it worked amazing. for now...
Currently on the lookout for a new 3.4 to drop in but also contemplating replacing the head gasket and whatever else I find when I dig into it.
Well about a day after this fiasco we took off for the annual Broco Trip and the truck did great. Ran pretty warm but considering it was near or over 100 most days early on and my AC was blowing cold I was pretty happy. Never really went above 213. Pulling long steep hills with AC on it would sit around 205 and usually cool back down really fast. I think I have a sticking thermostat because sometimes it would drop to like 195 while still working hard and other times it just had no desire to cool itself.

Sounds like you have the same issue I have. Misfire on cold start with a slow loss of coolant. I'm pretty sure a head gasket is leaking on mine, or a cracked combustion chamber on the head.
If you decide to replace gaskets, make sure you have your heads pressure checked. 3.4's are notorious for cracked chambers.

Just had the same thing. small amount of white smoke, slow coolant lost, ran rough on cold start. Ended up being both of my heads were cracked. Shelled out 3800 for the heads/timing belt +

Great pics as always. Love the subtle "blew the diffs... still finished the trail. Then drove 400 miles home." Then found headgasket leak "poured in stop-leak product.... went wheeling for a week". hahaha love it.

Wow! You my friend were taken advantage of.
I paid $1000 for heads (used & decked), gaskets, water pump, thermostat, timing belt, coolant, and labor.

yeah this shop came highly recommended and they were very particular about the parts they used. 700 each for brand new heads. they had to do all the bearings including the fan bearing, all of the tensioner rollers, water pump, gaskets, coolant, belts ext.. IDK I wanted to do just a motor swap but they advised on just rebuilding this one.
Unfortunately that is what you get when you can't do the work yourself. My opinion is better have it done right then pay close to the same amount and have it fail in 2-5 years. Of coarse I wont know if I made the right decision for 2-5 years. :boom:

Thanks, Addison! Yea you know, normal 4runner things... It was a blast but definitely just scenic, only every went into 4 wheel low for pulling long steep hills to keep the motor and tranny colder. Totally worth it for the views though.
For your trip, I think there are better options that I would share over a PM.
