? For you folks that have Katzkin leather added?

I am going to get another 4runner. I have the factory leather upgrade in my 2010 SR5. It has held up great, 87k on the clock. Fast forward 3 years and Toyota has managed to add the Entune head deck into the upgrade option now and bumped the cost up to $4700. (Was like 2k before). So I am leaning getting a SR5 w cloth and getting Katzkin done.

So ? For you folks that done Katzkin leather in your 4runners,
Are you happy with it or do you wish you went w factory leather?
Has it held up to your expectations?
Do you have any recommendations, they offer 3 levels of interior leather?

Thanks for your help. I have searched the forum and all posts are newly installed interiors, no real follow up data on how the Katzkin has held up.

I've got about 20k on mine and love it. I think it is better than the factory leather, my only gripe is that I don't have the factory switches for the heaters. Other than that it is the best thing I have done. Of course there was no getting a TRAIL with leather so...

Plus I think they said I had a 3 year warranty that if the side bolsters wear out, Katzkin pays them to replace it.

Here is a build thread from a 2013 4runner TE. He is doing an overland build on his new TE.

He ordered Katzkin and converted his TE cloth seats to leather. He installed the leather skins himself too. You can find pics in his build thread. You might need to have an account to be able to view the pics.

I'm actually getting Katskin seats installed right now. I dropped the 4Runner off this morning. I worked mine into a deal on a 2012 Blizzard SR5 that the dealership here needed to get off the lot a couple weeks ago. Anyway. I'll take pics and let you know how it looks when they are done.

I'll post pics when I get it back. They said it will probably be tomorrow or Monday-- they can't do it at Toyota and have to send it out.

I'm not sure what they are actually paying, it got worked into the purchase order. I think it will end up being somewhere in the neighborhood of $1400.

I had my Katzkin installed approximately 2 months ago and I absolutely love it. The leather is much better than OEM and is well worth the $2100 CAD I paid to have it made and installed here in :canada:

I went with black leather, barrucuda flint body, silver stitching (matches door panels), and dual heated seats. I wanted this combo to match our Lexus F-sport leather seats and they turned out nearly identical.

Those Katzkins do look really nice! For all those changing out your seat covers,remember to ask for your old ones back or they won't give them back unless you ask.Then they'll sell them. They are worth money to sell or put back on in the future if something comes up or are needed 10 years down the road. Most people are so excited about the new covers they forget to ask for the old ones back.

I changed my factory black leather front seat covers out for SR5 cloth which I find more comfortable, being cooler in our hot summers and had they have more padding. I bought them for $100 on Ebay at around my 10k mile mark but still have my leathers boxed up and in mint condition if I ever wanted to put them back on.

The Katzkins we had installed on her '04 Camry still look great - all I do is Lexol on them every other month or so. Must be different as the fabric seat covers were 100% removed by the shop prior to installation of the Katzkins. I was shown the seat covers prior to the install and noticed that a small amount of padding is sewed onto the underside of the Katzkins which provide cushioning.

I was originally going to go the cheaper route and wait for Clazzio to come out with their seat covers for the 5th gen. These are installed overtop of the existing fabric and look great IMO. Unfortunately, the last time I checked with Clazzio, they were not able to provide me with an ETA on their seat covers hence why I decided to take the plunge. Best decision ever!!

Carcarz thanks for posting your pics! That is the exact color wrap an insert/ stich combo I had put together on Katzkin's website that I am going to do in my vehicle as well! I didnt have the whole front panels selected like yours but i really like how yours turned out!! Again thank you, it is very helpful to see it installed in a 4runner, and not just a CAD drawing online. Seeing your truck done has sealed the deal for me. That is what I plan on doing. :thanks:

I have been thinking about this as well, I know I you can swap the steering wheel out, its like $700 or so. If I can't get used to the factory base SR5 wheel, I will do this. But really don't want to drop that much cash on the steering wheel. Lift comes first, tires second!

It depends on how good or lazy the installer is. Sometimes they will just install the cover right over the top of your old covers. Some places will even cut off your old covers with a razor blade! Good installers will properly remove the old covers before putting the katzkins on.

The most important part of the process is finding a good installer...these days it is so hard to find people that do good work, have any attention to detail, and don't rush through things!

Also, I look forward to having a car without a leather wrapped steering wheel. The leather used on most wheels isn't very high quality stuff, and usually ends looking like crap after a few years...especially when the wife drives your car with rings on and hand cream soaked hands! When the oem leather wrap goes bad, there is no good way to fix/replace it, you either have to live with it, or buy a whole new wheel!

Not a problem! If you would like me to take some daytime pictures just let me know. I spent many hours using the configurator before coming up with this combo...I am very sure you will love it and TBH, these pictures do not do them justice. they truly look outstanding in person!!

I decided to go with the entire front body as it was an extra $100 to move from "insert" to either "combo" or "body" and most "body"s on other vehicles is considered an upgrade.
