I HAVE JUST BEEN GIVEN A COMPANY CAR AND HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO SELL MY 2011 SILVER TE, THIS MAKES ME SO SAD AS I ABSOLUTELY LOVE MY TRUCK, BUT I LIVE IN BOSTON AND ONLY HAVE ONE PARKING SPACE. :cry2:

ODOMETER IS 25,421, AND ALL SERVICES DONE AHEAD OF SCHEDULE, THIS TRUCK IS BABIED.

IM LOOKING FOR $32,500, BUT FOR A MEMBER I AM WILLING TO DEAL. I WOUD APPRECIATE ANY HELP AS I NEED TO SELL THE TRUCK ASAP. PLEASE ONLY SERIOUS INQUIRIES THOUGH.

PM IF INTERESTED, OR KNOW SOMEONE WHO IS, I DON'T CHECK THIS THREAD THAT OFTEN.

I KNOW THIS BELONGS ON THE FOR SALE THREAD (WHICH IT IS) BUT I
WANTED TO PUT IT IN THE FRONT-LINE MIX ALSO. YOU ALL HAVE BEEN A GREAT SOURCE OF SUPPORT AND ADVICE AND I ONLY HOPE ONE OF YOU OR SOMEONE YOU KNOW WILL WANT TO OWN AND LOVE THIS AMAZING TRUCK.

Don't take this the wrong way but what happens if a few months from now the company falls apart and you lose your job (and car). I would not be in such a rush to sell the TE. I understand the 1 spot issue, I lived in Boston for a while. Is the company paying for your fuel as well (typical for a company car). Are you allowed to do personal errands or weekends trips with the company car? If so, I would use the money you would normally spend on fuel and put that to keeping the TE in storage somewhere. Are you planning on living in your current place for a while? If you move you may get more than one spot, keep that in mind! Just thoughts for you to consider. Best of luck with the sale!

No offense taken at all, but as a young family just starting out and my wife in the last year of nursing school, freeing up some liquid flow would sure help. I even begged her to let go of her Volvo and drive the TE......alas she refused :cry2: Thanks for the advice though. and ll of your points are valid. :cheers:

I have always felt that an idle vehicle that is not driven is rotting and definitely not being appreciated the way it should be. It's bad enough that my TE lives in the city now rather than te mountains where I was living. but I figure if things go south I could always get another T4R though I do love this one!!!

Unfortunately it requires quite a bit of other custom hardware that I fabricated to get it to sit correctly, it is a packasport 90 series. I repainted it flat black also so it looks much better. it does not fit on the stock rack without the liftgate hitting it without the internal aluminum rails and uni-strut nuts I used. Sorry, :beer:

I would do a CBA (cost benifit analysis) for them showing the company in a spreadsheet that this is the lease cost they will be paying, gas so forth and if I could keep my truck them picking up gas and maintenance and getting you a magnetic sticker for the side so for that moment it is a company vehicle and show them the cost savings for letting you keep your ride.

+1... I hope it's nice enough to give up your 4R. OP did you ask if you could use your private vehicle and get reimbursed? Some companies have no problem doing that, but it depends on the work.

Either way, GLWS! You might try to get a quote from Carmax or some local Toyota dealerships too. When I sold the Z, I went through a local company that is a lot like Carmax and they gave me about 1k more than the other dealers offered. I probably could have made an extra 1k or so on a private sale but not having to deal with people, test drives, and their financing was worth it.

I did the same thing when I sold my truck, Carmax gives you a 14 day buy promise where they give you a certain price for your vehicle. I used that to show at other dealerships while I was looking for my LE. Kind of gives you a guide line on what you should ask for when you try and sell.

Also one more thing, I used to have a job where they offered me a company car, I declined the car they gave me and instead they let me keep my car and offered to just pay for my gas and insurance, maybe you can ask your new boss if they would go down that route. Think about it, the company will not have to shell out $$$$$$ for the new company car, might be worth pitching that to your new boss.

X2! Most companies that offer company cars also allow for expense accounts. I would use that account to fund the additional parking spot needed to house the new company car.
I have a company truck (2011 F-150) so I keep my 4Runner in the garage 5-6 days a week. It is nice because I still get to drive it a few times/week. But instead of being a rapidly depreciating asset, it is more like an investment. Every day I don't drive it the mileage appears that much lower for a vehicle of it's age. At least that is what I tell myself. I'm sure if you get creative enough you'll find a way to keep it.

^^This...however, make sure you understand the tax implications if you ask for a monthly car allowance vs. being reimbursed for your expenses under what is referred to as an "accountable" plan. If they agree to go this route so you can keep your 4R, you need to make sure you know what you're asking for. Here's a link that might help (if you can get through reading IRS regs)

Lots of great advice folks thank you. Unfortunately there is no option for using my own vehicle the company is so big they even have their own garage and fuel station, also I asked and the expense will not cover the parking space. I am resolved to having to let it go for now but I will return to the forum once I have another T4R and room to keep it. Again thanks to all of you for the info and advice. :cheers:
