Forum is unusable

Is it possible to download all the data from this site to make a backup? You never know when this site could go down for good, would be a shame to lose lots of valuable information and tech tips.

Yes, the forum usability has reduced A LOT in the last 6 months or year. It's almost unusable via mobile now -- I don't even try.

DEAR MODERATORS -- WHERE ARE YOU?? Can you weight in with us, please?

At a minimum we need to keep the site from tanking. What do you need the committed members to do to help?

I had no idea about that awesome!
I was always told to use taptatalk or an external source so its great to know you can!

No problem. i don't think I've ever viewed this forum on a mobile device since I'm surrounded by computers at work all day (sorry boss). Given the older nature of the underpinnings of this site, I can see how that might be more frustrating. I usually airdrop photos from my phone to a laptop, resize and upload. It's more steps and old fashioned, but reliable.

What I don't understand is why the person(s) who own this site barely lift a finger to make any improvements to make the site more enjoyable to use and contribute to. A large percentage of the contributing members have already disappeared and it's the contributing members that keep people wanting to return to this forum. If people ask questions and they get no responses, they'll just seek their information elsewhere like Toyota Facebook groups.

This site is a made for profit site. Why the owner(s) seemingly don't give a shit about the functionality of the website is perplexing. It would be like owning a restaurant with patrons complaining about the quality of the food and continuing to serve crappy food until they loose all their customers and go bankrupt. It makes zero sense, but there's a lot in the world that makes no sense these days.

My thoughts exactly mtbtim. I hardly contribute here anymore due to the fact that this site has so many issues, such as randomly breaking links to my build thread and worst of which is now failing to even load. I realize we're past the hay day of forms, but literally any other form I go to ih8mud ect, even ones that are a much smaller user base load nearly instantly and make contributing significantly easier by auto resizing images that are uploaded. I've noticed this forum have more and more bugs and now it seems that mods admin ect are ignoring people as there's multiple other threads where people have tried reaching out and haven't heard a thing or mods have closed the thread without helpful info.

It's genuinely a shame, as this site has the best userbase and tech out of any site I've found for 4runners and I think the user base would actually grow if the site functioned. It's dumbfounding to say the least, because as you said this is a for profit site where the owner makes money off users and sponsors. Seems like basic upkeep or updating software wouldn't be that much effort to do, even if it ment closing the site for a few days. I for one, would be willing to contribute too if needed as this is such a valuable resource. I'd hate for it to crash or permanently be down which it seems is the trajectory it's on.

Right, and the only way I've found to help the site work better is to block all ads which reduces the revenue they are receiving. It's a downward spiral....

If we were having to pay to be on this forum, then I can understand you not being impressed....BUT IT'S FREE....so be happy it's getting an upgrade....or just go to FaceBook!!!

The contributors make this site as profitable as it's been. Nothing in life is free. We spend our time posting helpful content and answering people's questions. No, it's not costing us a monetary value, but our time has a value. Without us, the forum dies and the people who own the site no longer make money from out efforts. We are the Employees AND the Customers of this forum.

The owners better pull their heads out of their asses, or we all lose.

I know all of this and I agree...but why still complain when something is being done to improve the forum no matter how late it is, that is why I posted what I did, the fact that something is being done to improve the forum should be good news to all, not something else to complain about!!

You make a valid point, but why does it take the owners of the site so long to correct issues? It should be in their best interests to keep the site running on all cylinders. We shouldn't have to beg them to fix issues and that's what it feels like we have to do. They are very absent as owners and we all stand to lose if they don't take more pride in their product and the site dies.

In posts there are 2 ways to post an image: Insert and image inline with the post or attach it to the post.

If you use the Insert Image button (yellow button with mountain) the image has to be located elsewhere on the Internet and you will use the URL for that image.

If you have an image you want to upload from your device, use the paperclip button, which will direct you to select an image from your device, then upload it. (You can also manage your upload with this button or in the Additional Options section, Manage Attachments.)

There are limits to the size of attachments so if something doesn't upload, look for an error message about the size. Resize the image and try again.

Nothing is being done, that's the problem. Took about 40 seconds just to try and reply to you. I have thought they were working on the forum before and was wong. Just disappointing.

They need to upgrade the entire forum platform.

I have experienced just the opposite, it's been very fast for me in the last couple of days since the Administrator posted the following on the 9th....

"Please stay tuned. We upgraded the server, but still having intermittent issues. Working on it."

So something has been done that I can see, is it perfect....no... but better on my end, I do have an Ad Blocker and use a laptop so that maybe a factor, I can't attest how it does using a cell phone.

Thanks for the link, I was the OP of that thread thinking they fixed something but found it was bad a day later.

I have my doubts since i have seen it be fast one day then slow for 364. I'm using a regular CPU and fiber internet. But i'm with you, at least there is effort to fix it and communication about it, which is fantastic!
