Front Window Tint

Using a visor or sunglasses really isn't that much of an inconvenience.

I'm glad you haven't had any trouble, but I wouldn't want to find out what would happen if you did get in a night time accident and had to deal with the other parties insurance company. To each their own....

Most would never even know it was tinted. The adjusters usually don't see the other car they only see their clients car so its a moot point

When I lived in MA I had 13% tint on my Volvo S60R, which was way darker than legal. For some reason the guys at the shop I went to for inspection stickers didn't hassle me.

Here in NH I had tint on another car for a while (35% front, 13% rear). I got hassled the first time it was inspected, but they passed me because I claimed the vehicle had the tint on it when I bought it. The second time around, I used a friend of a friend's shop, and was given a free pass. Since then I've bought another car, but haven't tinted the windows because I don't want to deal with the hassle.

Moral of the story I guess is make friends with someone who's shop does inspections.

For that matter I've ran 20% on all on a previous car for 4 years in Cali where you cannot tint front windows.

Have never had an issue.

Did the same as you with the tint in WA and never had an issue, even in my black on black Mercedes with 5% all around (already installed when I got it) I never had an issue, and that thing looks DARK due to the black interior. Never had trouble in So Cal either with the same setup on my 4runner.

WSP, however, will hassle you for literally EVERYTHING else aside from tint.

3mph over-ticket
brake light out-ticket
foot (barely) out the window in the middle of nowhere in summer-ticket
high beams on accidentally-ticket
not having your Obama and/or Sanders bumper sticker on full display-ticket


That whole state is nothing more than a speed trap now, over-the-road truckers I've talked to absolutely hate driving up there for that reason.
 
Metalized Tint

Anyone had any issues with metalized tint messing with the in window antenna? Just picked up a white ltd and it needs to be a slightly darker tint and adding some to the front, just trying to figure out what level to take it to and what material!

You have a picture by chance? I am thinkjng of going this route, here in the hot desert I think its the way to go.....

What's worse is all the undercover rigs they have on the road. I've lived in Oregon all my life yet all of my tickets have come from crossing into WA
 
Here's mine fresh out of the tint booth... I did 35% on the fronts, 20% on the rears and sun roof and then a 5% strip across the front windshield. All ceramic to hopefully help with the heat since it's black on black.

these all look fantastic! been waiting to do this on my fronts, i love the idea of the strip on the windshield as well.

anyone in the Philly area know anyone reputable for getting the job done? local reviews are all over the place.
 
I did 20% on the fronts and am glad I didn't go lighter. From the outside it matches perfectly, and looks a tad more green on the inside.

This is just a bit late. Haven't been very active here for a while. Pictures as requested. It looks much darker in pics than in person. For reference, the side windows are 20%. No visibility issues at night whatsoever.

I saw a guy in Colorado yesterday that tinted his entire front windshield.... I couldn't help but laugh.

I see car guys with it all the time...not legal here in PA, but looks good imo...


I was told 25% would match up...20 looks good though
 
I had a tint company in my area use a scan tool and they said the tint on my 03 is 27% if that helps anyone

I was pulled over the other day for speeding in my WRX :police: . The trooper noticed my windshield was tinted which is not legal here in MD. He only gave me a warning for that and told me that I could have a tinted window if I had a doctors note for it. Guess I'm going to medical to see if Doc will give me that note :lmao: I am fair skinned and need all the UV protection I can get :redface:
