Front Window Tint

15% on front two windows.. 50% on top of the 35% that is the factory tinted glass on the back windows..

equals out to 15% on all windows... you can see a slight difference in the color on the inside if your really looking for it, but the outside looks seamless..

This is just a bit late. Haven't been very active here for a while. Pictures as requested. It looks much darker in pics than in person. For reference, the side windows are 20%. No visibility issues at night whatsoever.

Looks really nice. Really can't help but wonder what you do when it comes time to get a new inspection/registration sticker on you windshield though. I would be difficult to remove and replace it without damaging the tint...

No inspection stickers here. Registration sticker is on the license plate. Proof of inspection just goes into a database that the DMV can access. They also print a hard copy for you.

I've had 35% tint on the windshield of multiple vehicles over the last 10 years in NM, TX, NC, and now CO. Never once had an issue with law enforcement.

Before someone asks "Why would you tint the windshield?" I'll explain. With the 35% on the windshield my vehicle's interior is greatly protected from the sun's heat. I also never have to use the visor in my truck. If the sun is low and I'm facing it head on, a pair of sunglasses + the tint are adequate shading for me to drive comfortably. No, I do not have any issues seeing at night. If I had old, dim headlights then yes, it would probably be a concern.

Went with Hupar Optik Extreme 5℅ all around. No problems seeing as night and makes it much cooler during day. Main concern was privacy given 2 laptops stolen from my car

Your question/comment could not be more well-timed. I just got my first windshield crack a week ago and I've lived here in CO for 2 years in October. The crack I was gifted is about the size of a nickel so I'm going to Safelite to have it repaired. There was no effect to the tint since it's on the inside.

I had heard this was a problem when I first moved to CO but kind of forgot it was an issue since I've gone almost 2 years with no concerns.

But to answer your question a little further.... yes, if I needed to replace the windshield I would most certainly re-tint with nothing darker than the 35%.

Good call getting it fixed ASAP. Depending on how much winter/mountain/hurricane-winds-in-the-foothills driving you do, you may be able to get by another year. Even without cracks, my windshields are usually pitted so bad from flying debris (sand, gravel) that it gets difficult to see at night with glare or heading into low sun. Funny, my wife is getter her Jetta GLI's factory windshield repaired as we speak. Original 2007 windshield, purchased from Idaho... 2 years ago.

For those of you that have tinted your front windows to match the factory tint, what % did you go with? Im looking to get it done on Monday. Thanks for your help in advance.

I don't know what they put on the fronts... I just told them to match the rest and they did it perfectly... Doesn't really matter what % you get, just matters if it matches.

Your tint shop should have a clear tint that blocks UV/heat for the front windshield. I need that for mine bad, but it's friggin expensive.

15% here, matched by a shop. I don't think you can rely on all of our tint being the same opacity, there for a magic number is impossible. They are all slightly different. Take it to a shop, ask them to match it and be done.

Bonnie & Clyde on Harry Hines has the "clear" we just did the windshield on my wifes ElCamino...I have yet to drive it at night but for sure on that old rig, it needed some heat rejection...the technology when that car was built was about two inches of dark shading at the top

@4D7 awesome looking 4th gen!! I'm so jealous that you get to rock those 16" TRD rims. I have the oversized brakes and can't fit anything smaller than 17". Where can I see more pics of that rig?

About 5 years ago, I had 75% put on my windshield and kept it for a total of 6 days. At night, approaching car's headlights caused a "light splatter" and you could totally see the grains in the film. Drove me nuts!!

About 5 years ago, I had 75% put on my windshield and kept it for a total of 6 days. At night, approaching car's headlights caused a "light splatter" and you could totally see the grains in the film. Drove me nuts!!

I have no problems driving at night. I've had my tint for 4 years. I wonder if your tint was a low-quality film and caused that.

Tint

Limo tint or 5% all the way around and 8-10" strip across the windshield. I love it and have done the same on all vehicles I've owned. I never get a ticket for it, if I do get pulled over I roll down every window including the rear to allow the Officer to clearly see me and my passengers.

I did 35% on my fronts on my 08, matches well with the stock tint.

I didn't tint the windshield, but my tint guy did a visor strip for me, I love it!
