Frustrating Buzzing

I own a 2010 Black TE. I installed Mickey Thompson Baja ATZ's stock size. The wheels were speed balanced three times. That being said, I have a high frequency buzzing in my steering wheel. It only seems to happen between 30-40 mph. It is so frustrating. Also when I slow down to make a turn it seems like the tranny is searching for the right gear and it takes a second or two. Other than these issues I really love this ride. Has anybody experienced any of these issues and if so what did you do about them?

Were they road-force balanced? Standard balancing will not correct for irregularities in the sidewall.

I have seen a lot of info on this in other forums. There is an explanation of road-force balancing here: Link

I have the same problem. My truck is stock (SR5). Sound seems to come from behind the little leather flap hiding the telescopic steering, etc. I took it to the dealer and they couldn't hear it. I hear it at the same speeds as you report. Almost sounds like when you have a loose speaker wire. I will continue to monitor. I am glad that I am not the only one who has this issue.

I have a 2010 Trail (non-KDSS) and do not experience that problem.

I test drove a KDSS equiped Trail and the steering wheel had a light buzz during acceleration in the 20-40mph range. The engine also sounded slightly noisier than mine.

I don't know if it might be that the engines in some vehicles are slightly buzzier than others or perhaps the KDSS linkagages might transfer a little more engine virbration to the steering column.

Does your Trail have KDSS? Maybe test drive one without it and see if the you hear/feel the same buzzing.

Yes I have KDSS. I want to say that the high frequency buzzing is only felt through the steering wheel, not anywhere else. It can not be heard, just felt in my hands.

I have Goodyear Duratracs in the stock size and almost 9000 miles. I do not have this vibration.

Mine is not derived from vibration - it sounds electrical coming from right behind the little vinyl flap hiding the telescopic steering mechanism...
