Fuse / Switch Question

Getting ready to wire my lights and swithces tomorrow. Can anyone recommend the best place to tap an ignition swithced fuse for my light switches? I thought there would be a fuse box just behind the dash like on one of my older 4runners, but I just looked and could not find one.

I am putting them just to the left of the steering wheel - where there are some switch blanks. I looked behind the driver's side kick plate and did not see anything. Could you possibly shoot a quick picture - I would really appreciate it.

You don't need to remove the kick panel to get to that fuse box.

One more question - I tapped into an ignition switched fuse for power. The switch I am using (air on board) also has a blue wire which is supposed to be wired so that switch will light up when you turn on your dash lights. Where is the best place to splice this wire to?

That blue wire will connect to the green wire connected to the RSCA switch (just pull on the loom to show it - that switch is in the same panel area your installing the light switch) and use one of these wire taps - red color is right size:

Also, in this pic, if you wanted to tap an ignition controlled wire, I believe the thicker guage green next to the thicker red, white plug next to e-brake pedal, should be key-on power. Always test with a meter before you tap!

Which ever way you choose, I would recommend that you use a relay to isolate your lights. Use the key-on power only to energize the relay through the switch. The lights should be pulling their power through a fuse close to the battery or main wire at fuse box.

Do you recall which wire you did the ignition switched fuse tap for(AOB green/yellow)?

Also, I believe you also tapped into the de-icer for illumination(AOB blue/yellow wire)? I found this diagram, do you recall which wire you tied into?

[MENTION=90192]2chains[/MENTION] - I do not recall which fuse I tapped, but it was in that fuse block pictured earlier in this thread underneath the steering wheel. I just checked with a voltmeter for a fuse that was ignition switched and tapped it. And yes, I did tap into the wiper warmer switch , which will never get used in Houston btw, for dash light power. That was the blue wire coming from the AOB switch. Here is AOB's wiring diagram that should come with the switches. It is pretty straight forward from there. Hope that helps!
