do you happen to have any build specs or plans you can share?
how does the front portion of your sleep platform hinge, and how does it attach securely to the cargo storage drawer portion?

Ok, I took some measurements!

(1) 3/4" Plywood- 36" x 48" (For top piece)
(2) 2"x10" that are cut to 36" long (Next to wheel wells)
(1) 2"x10" cut to 35 6/16" (for in between the other two pieces for added support)
(1) 2"x2" piece cut to 38 6/16" (for front piece to rest on when connecting the front portion for sleeping area.

If you want to make a drawer you will need to finish all of this first and then once you order drawer sliders take measurements to make the drawer whatever size you would like it.

For the front piece, it is just a piece of 3/4" ply that is cut to 48" wide and 38" long. Cut in half so you have two pieces that are now 24" x 38". Drill a hole in each piece as well as the 2x2 that this will rest on and secure it together with whatever kind of bolt you would like. I used a wing nut so I could take it out in seconds. For the front I made two legs that screw in and out so when I fold the front piece up I can store the legs as well. I will post up better pictures of everything when I can but I hope this helps!

thanks for the prompt response with measurements; we're actually planning to camp and offroad in Albuquerque over Memorial Day weekend, so I will try to get my own sleep platform finished by then...

It is better than sleeping in my bed at home! I got an awersome kelty double wide self inflating pad that literally fits so perfect it is like it was made for the 4runner. I def made a lot of mistakes the first time but having these measurements will help a lot. And make a drawer. TRUST ME. Best thing I ever did! Here is a link to the pad.

The box could not be more perfect. When the rear seats are in it goes right up to them with a little gap. and It is exactly 10" high to clear the wheel wells perfectly.

As for Mammoth, MOVE! I only came for the winter to go snowboarding and the summer is WAY better! I can go wheeling every day!! I am absolutely hooked on mammoth lol.

I used 26" drawer sliders and left room in the back for storage. They are rated at 250lbs and work great. If i did have to do it over again I would get the 500lb ones just for peace of mind and they are about the same price.

They are supposed to lock when it closes fully, but honestly it is so heavy that drawer does not slide anywhere at all. Most of the girls can barely even open it lol. But it feels very sturdy and solid and slides very well! Plus when the tailgate is closed, it is basically touching the back of the box. It literally does not move AT ALL and I couldnt be happier with just the handle. (unless I wanted to be able to lock the drawer) If you look on TCH website they have so many different options for whatever suits you. I posted all the pictures in one place and actually started a thread.

We have a cabin on Mono Lake, I'm up there a couple times a month usually and I head into Mammoth to see some friends and get my growlers refilled at the brewery lol. Let's do some wheeling!

Sorry I never update this hardly anymore. The cargo box and sleeping platform have held up perfectly and it gets a ton of use! I wouldn't change a thing, other than I am prob going to make a nicer place to mount my amps.

So much new stuff

I have done so much to the 4runner since I have last posted but I am just to lazy to spend time posting stuff on here. I have added a Whitson Rack with lightbar, Radflo 2.5s all the way around with resis, total chaos upper control arms, (the whole 1.2 kit from Steve at Sonoran Steel). I also bought a travel trailer! Next is CBI rear bumper! I might post some more detailed pictures of later of some stuff if I have time. Enjoy!
