Getting hot. Don't know why.

My '93 3.0 is pegging the temp needle when I am just going up a short grade with an ambient temp of like 70 F and below. I checked the radiator fluid, and it was OK. It will also steam at the end of this heating. Could it be the thermostat? Anything else to consider.

I would try replacing the thermostat, if that doesnt do anything, it could be your heater core. I had a 92' cavaleir that i replaced the thermostat in 3 times, then found out that it was the heater core.
 
Thanks, I'll be looking into it. It looks pretty accessible. I hope that I am not wrong about that.
 
The thermostat is on the lower radiator hose, not in the upper. It is kinda a pain to get to and you get cut up by the fan.
