Gibson exhaust on 4th gen, who's got it?

That exhaust is going to exit straight out the back. :dammit:

Gibson calls it a swept side design, but they only make it exit via the rear on the 4th gen 4runner. It sounds like you're expecting the one you ordered to exit to the side.

OK - back to Gibson it goes. I really don't like this hanging out the back. Suggestions anyone?

bring it to an exhaust shop and have them turn it to the side, many people on here have had that done with their stock exhaust.

Correct, that is very easy to do, and any shop can do that in 15 min if you want.

I had one customer do it, and he just had his muffler shop bent it to the side.

After waiting a few weeks I got my Gibson stainless system a couple of days ago. Ordered it through Burtman. Put it on yesterday in a short amount of time. Great quality. Good sound without being too loud. Now it sounds like a V8 should.

Good deal. Glad you like it. It will also give you better mileage.

tough to tell if there is a increase of mileage right now with the dropping temps and snow on the roads. Those two things kill my mileage.

I purchased my aluminum gibson cat back from Amazon.com through TrendsAuto. It was tax free and free shipping. Gibson drop shipped the package, and since I am lucky enough to live near the Gibson factory. I literrally recieved the exhaust 3 days after I ordered it. I installed it this weekend and I like it so far. Its sounds pretty much like my 05 Prerunner with a JBA exhaust. and this was more than half the price!

I do hear a bit of droning, but i'm sure that will go away once the exhaust is broken in. Also it'll sound much better after I let the engine breathe easier. I'm hoping to pick up a used K&N intake tonight.

I just purchased this 2005 4runner recently and this is my first mod.

GIBSON TOOOOOO Loud.

Hi Guys,

I bought and installed a Gibson and I am having a terrible time with it. Specifically when driving the truck on the Highway it is so loud that the truck is unbearable. The rusted out OEM exhaust that I replaced it with is actually less annoying. How do you guys have the muffler installed? Specifically is your inlet (side closest to the the engine) 6 O'clock or 12 O'clock? Driving the truck in town isn't horrible but hitting the highway is.

Wow!

I installed the single straight back SS over the summer. Really straight forward install. Love the sound it makes! Just worried about the condition of the pipe 6 months later and in he middle of this NE winter
