Gobi Ladder owners: Request

Hi folks, I am wondering if those of you with a Gobi Rear Ladder on your 5th gen could please post some high quality photos of the mounting points? I am thinking of fabbing something for my rear hatch in a similar style and I am wondering how exactly the Gobi is attached. I am not looking to copy it exactly. I just want to see how it attaches more or less.

Also, for those of you with the ladder, have you had issues with the struts not having enough power to lift the hatch once the ladder is attached? Have you had to upgrade?

I didn't want to take chances so I went ahead and upgraded the struts while my rack and ladder were on order. It's cheap and easy to do.

There are some good photos around, as far as the struts, I had stock for over a year before eventually upgrading to heavier duty.

I applaud this effort. But I'd keep it on the D/L.

Like I said, I am not trying to copy the Gobi ladder. I am simply trying to see how they accomplished attaching the ladder without drilling holes. I have been tossing around an idea for something attached to the rear hatch, but the more I read about the need for stronger struts, the less I want to do it.

But again, not trying to copy, just wondering how exactly they attached the ladder, and I am not looking to make something for sale, just for myself, so I hardly think I am stepping on Gobi's toes in any way.

I just installed a gobi ladder today. Takes 20 minutes and is really a nice design. You should just buy a Gobi ladder and be done.
