What does the chart say?

um where on the chart does it say 33x12.5 tire ??? theyre all metric sizes

In the "diameter" and "width" columns. If a 32.7" X 11.2" tire is "red" a 33" X 12.5" tire will not magically be in the "green."
If a tire size is coded "red" you could:
Have to lift the vehicle
Have to install aftermarket UCA's
Have to do a Body Mount Chop
Have to move the inner fender liner
Have to trim the front bumper cover
Have to remove the mud flaps
Have to do nothing.
Every vehicle is slightly different and every tire brand and type of tire is a bit different dimensionally. If you use a wheel with a different backspace than stock then that opens up a whole world of problems...or solutions.
If you run the size you want you might have to do every single thing on that list or maybe just a combination of a few. If you ask someone what they did that is running the exact same tire their answer could be different than what you have to do because their caster setting was different than yours was originally.
Bottom line: If you want to change tire size and run different wheels then be prepared to do all or some of the modifications I listed above. If you are not prepared to do those mods then pick a tire size that is "green" and don't change wheel offsets. If you do not understand offset and backspacing then use the links in the post to understand these terms.

G8RB8, or anyone else, I am familiar with tire sizes and lifts and rubbing from my previous Tacoma, but I haven't found anyone posting any experience with installing 255/80-17 tires on a T4R without a lift. Or more specifically, the Cooper ST Maxx in that size. Is it doable without too much rubbing before a lift is purchased? I know every vehicle is unique but I also know certain general sizes will work without a lift or simply will not. I will be installing the tires on SCS SR8 wheels, like stated above are 17x8.5 with -10 offset. Just looking to see if anyone has any experience installing at least this tire size without a lift. And thanks for putting this guide together!

I would say that you're going to rub. The post that you quoted stated that with a 2" lift the stock size cooper stt max rubbed with your same wheels. You're only going 0.4in narrower but 1.5in taller.

That's what I would assume as well. I was just hoping someone tried installing that size without a lift. I guess I will wait until I get the lift before I put the new shoes on. :dammit:

Alright, as I have mentioned in other threads, I am making a ~3,500 trip from Texas to Utah and back and want to upgrade tires for some mild off road driving. I spotted a nice deal on some FJ tires/rims running the forged TRD rims and BFG KO tires (265/75/16), but being a complete newb, I am not sure if this is a bad call for
A) a long drive and the MPG compared to 17R KOs
B) general performance
C) the Fit
I spent a good 20 minutes searching this forum and the world wide web before posting, so forgive me if I am just missing something. The best I could come up with was quadratred giving me a general 265/75/16=31.6"x 10.4" and 265/70/17=31.6"x 10.7". Slightly greater diameter and slightly narrower tread? 1engineer's link says its even less of a difference than that.
Does anybody know of the 265/75/16 fits on a bone stock 5th gen? Perform well? Anything else I should consider before making a call to the owner?

If you can add/analyze it, that would be great. I need to know if it will fit w/o a lift b/c I have a 6'6" garage at work and am getting a drabbits rack so I have a tight window on height.

I have my SUV lifted on bilstein 1.75" front and 1" rear. Thought about going with 285s but that'll need a 2.5" and 1.5" lift and fender lining trimming to prevent rub.
Anybody know which 265/70/17 a/t will give the wheel well a "filled" look? Or even a tire with taller tread blocks.
Wheels are level 8 Mk -10.

Any thoughts if a 33x12.5 in 17 or 18 fit the 2015 trail. No kdss. The chart posted in the OP helps but doesn't list anything like 33" tires. I know it's sort of a noob question but I'm more fakiliar with road racing applications and not really off-road applications. Thanks in advance. Reason being is I want to get new rims and tires. Possibly nittos or Mickey thompsons. It some form or aggressive mud or crawling pattern tires. I'm also debating 17-18-20-22inch rims. Not sure because I've seen jeeps with big rims and aggressive tires. I like that look.

Yes it does. LOOK at the entire chart. Broaden your horizons. Read the fine print. Like maybe in the 2nd or 3rd columns....... :wink2:
Just wanted to put this in the thread. I have 275/70-17 destination A/T's that are 32.2" and I have rubbing with left turn lock in reverse and very slight rub going forward on off camber bumps. Nothing that would hurt anything but it's there. It did it stock and with 1.5" of lift in the front.

Define "filled" please? Wider to fill the fender out to the flares or taller to fill the fender dimensions? It would also help to know what your intended purpose is. Light off roading? Mall crawling? Hardcore rock crawling? I was really impressed with the look and handling of a set of Cooper Zeon LTZ's I had on my 2011 Tundra. They were light truck sport tires and handled very well and quietly on the long highway drives I make to and from work. But they had a little more aggressive tread block design for light off roading. I'm currently running General Grabber AT2's because they resemble the A/T tread pattern of the BFG KO at roughly half the price and have a 60,000 mile tread life. But they are not great MUD or ROCK tires.
Wider will be more impacted by your wheel width and back spacing as well as the tire width. But any widening that pushes the outer rim out more than 1" will also likely require some minor trimming even with 265's in any A/T pattern.
Taller will make it look more "filled", but will also likely require trimming in the front and back fender areas.
I originally went with the 1.75" front you have. My 265/70-17 Grabbers on an 8" rim with 4.5" backspacing had a slight rub on the left front fender at full right lock in reverse. Not enough to hurt anything, but enough to alarm my wife whenever she heard the grumble. So I'm thinking your wheel combo may do the same. Here are pictures before I added Spydertrax spacers that finally forced me to do the trim job.
