Simple question, are these rims the matte grey ones or is it some other color?

Thank you 1engineer. I'll probably go with the 285/70/17r on the 17" x 8" TRD rims (zero off set) and take my chances. My Tacomas would fit a 285 no problem. Sad to hear the 4Runners are not the same. I'll update with my experience with putting these on!

Looks like ThrillSeekr has a similar set up to what I am looking for and only has minor rubbing at full lock.



So an update on this. I chose to go with the TRD rims that were 17" x 7" when I found out the 17" x 8" was a two piece rim. So glad too because they look awesome. With that said I went with some Goodyear MT/Rs 275/70/r17 instead of the 285/70/r17 because the Goodyear rep said that size would definitely rub. He also stated the 275/70/r17 would rub when the tire is up in the wheel well and turned. He was right. However, there is very minor rubbing. At the present moment, everything else is stock. Here is a picture just for fun!

That's why I made the "Will It Rub?" color yellow. Depends on what tire you run, what alignment spec you have, what the new wheel offset is etc. Believe it or not everyone's 4Runner is a bit different, hence adjustable alignment bolts. I can say you will rub. Depending on everything else, you might have to move the inner liner forward, you might have to trim the mud flap, you might have to trim the front cover a bit, and if you really are bad you might have to do a body mount chop. None of these things are hard but you will have to do something. Even if you lift you have to do these things. Don't want to do anything? Stop at 275.

To back up [MENTION=66316]1engineer[/MENTION]'s post, I just went to stock size Duratrac's LT 265/70/17 with stock suspension and it rubs slightly at full lock on just the drivers side.

In 2009 Toyota engineers ran the Rubicon in a stock TE prototype. No lift, no bigger tires, no extra skid plates but I think they ran sliders. That's all and they came away with a little cosmetic scratch and nothing broke. If I remember one of the head Execs was piloting one of them. Just sayin'.

My point was it is cheaper to fix the damage than cut up a truck to run 37's.

I was looking at your tire fitment guide. I am trying to decide if I can run 275/70/17 tires without a lift for now. From some of the post on your guide it looks like it is hit or miss with all terrain tires. I want to get the new BFG KO2 but they only come in 275 size for now. I am thinking I better stick with 265 tires at this time especially since I am going to be using the stock 20" spare for now. I do like your fitment guide.

As an additional piece of input data, I just put 275/70R17 Cooper Discoverer AT3
on mine and they do rub (driver and passenger sides) as you approach full lock. This is without a lift. My 4R is in the shop today having a Toytec Boss kit installed.

Was it rubbing on the front or the rear? I am guessing the front but I noticed on mine that the passenger side gets within 1/2"-3/4" on the rear of the stock 20" tire with the wheel partially turned. I think a bigger more aggressive tire would rub there on mine.

I have the BFG KO's in 275/70/17 on a 2013 TE and they rub lightly. The ones I have are "E" rated I believe and I lost ~2 mpg post-install.

Done a little searching in this thread on on the forum but can't find an answers if Cooper STMaxx 275/70/17 on a stock trail edition wheels will rub at full articulation/turn. The TE is stock height for now.

The chart says ok for this size but wondering if anyone with this particular wheel/tire setup has any rubbing since some 275's seem to fall in the maybe - maybe not rub category.

It's hard to tell, but the ST Maxx does have a pretty aggressive shoulder, which would be my only worry. That said, if they are what you want, go for it. There are ways to fix small amounts of rubbing without too much work.

How do the ATPs handle in the snow cause i was really thinking of getting them
